Jordy Bahl’s electric season earns NCFA/Schutt National Freshman of the Year
She hasn’t pitched in nearly a month, but that’s evidence of the incredible season that Jordy Bahl has had for the Oklahoma Sooners. Bahl was named NFCA/Schutt National Freshman of the Year.
Bahl joins other standout Sooners to win the award like Tiare Jennings, Jocelyn Alo, and Paige Parker to make it the fourth time in the award’s eight-year history a Sooner has brought home the honor.
The standout freshman has been incredible since first stepping foot in the circle for the Oklahoma Sooners putting together a 21-1 record with a 0.95 ERA, including 199 strikeouts in 132.1 innings pitched. Bahl has allowed a .137 batting average to opponents and just 18 earned runs in 30 appearances.
Bahl started her Sooners career by not allowing an earned run in her first 25.1 innings pitched including a seven-inning shutout of fellow Women’s College World Series participant UCLA. She threw a perfect game against Cal State Fullerton and a no-hitter against Iowa. She’s also been a part of a combined perfect game and no-hit performance for the Sooners’ pitching staff.
Jordy Bahl was named the Big 12 Co-pitcher of the year and the conference’s freshman of the year.
