Jones still alive in kicking competition

A big focus of Temple's preseason camp has been the quarterback competition, where redshirt freshman Anthony Russo, true freshman Todd Centeio, redshirt sophomore Logan Marchi and redshirt junior Frank Nutile are all vying for the job.

But during a weather-induced break from Wednesday evening's practice, special teams and tight ends coach Ed Foley said senior placekicker Austin Jones is back and competing for the job with Aaron Boumerhi, who replaced Jones in Memphis back on Oct. 6 when Jones was hit on a kickoff return and tore his ACL.

Prior to his injury, Jones converted 10 of his 12 field goal attempts and was a perfect 23 of 23 on extra points, and Boumerhi made sure the Owls didn't miss a beat, converting 15 of his 17 kicks, including a 48-yarder.

Jones and Boumerhi, along with Russo, Marchi and Foley, all spoke with reporters following Wednesday's practice. You can listen to those interviews here.
