Jonah Jackson focused on improving his diet entering his 2nd season

Jonah Jackson did a fine job as the starting left guard for the Detroit Lions as a rookie in 2020. The team’s third-round pick out of Ohio State jumped right into the lineup and proved capable of playing at an above-average level right away.

Jackson is looking to play more consistently solid football in his second year. One of the ways he’s looking to improve is by being in better physical condition entering training camp.

“Just taking care of my body better and being a pro in that aspect,” Jackson told Tim Twentyman of the Detroit Lions official website. “Handling my diet and staying on top of my weight. Just getting stronger, bigger, smarter. Trying to dial in as much as I can to help myself this next year.”

Twentyman noted that Jackson joked about “less trips to Taco Bell and White Castle.”

Jackson was listed at 6-foot-3 and 306 pounds in his rookie season. He looked to be in really good shape during last month’s minicamp, where he took all the first-team reps at left guard in the sessions open to the media.
