The university, athletic department and football team have announced the passing of former kicker John Wallace across multiple social media platforms.

John Wallace Louisville obituary

John Alan Wallace passed away on May 15, 2024, according to his obituary.

Wallace left behind a wife, Rachel (Breit) Wallace; a daughter, Macie Wallace; and a soon-to-be-born son, Caleb. His parents were Carla Wallace and Patrick Wallace, and he had a brother, Justin Wallace (Whitney).

Born in Elizabethtown, Ky., on Jan. 15, 1993. Wallace attended Central Hardin High School before finishing second all-time in points scored and topping the all-time field goals made list as an Academic All-American for the University of Louisville football team. He also worked for Trilogy.

John Wallace Louisville funeral

Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville; and from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning before the service at Chapel in the Woods (Southeast Christian property), 1407 Moser Road, Louisville. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024.

A private burial will be held at a later time at Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Ave., Louisville.

Wallace connected on 66-of-85 field goal attempts for 77.6% accuracy during his time with the Louisville Cardinals from 2012-15, according to sports-reference.com. He also chipped in 183-of-190 extra point attempts.

Wallace owns the most field goals made all-time (66) in four seasons at Louisville and ranks fourth in all-time field goal percentage (77.6%). He buried two field goals during the 2013 Sugar Bowl to help Teddy Bridgewater and the No. 21 Cardinals upset the No. 3 Florida Gators, 33-23.
