Joey Votto thanked Cincinnati Reds fans in a tweet for their "amazing support" of the team in 2023, his 17th season in Major League Baseball, and as a Red.

"Reds fans, didn't get to thank you for your amazing support of our team this year," Votto tweeted. "I bragged about you on the bench to new teammates early in the season and you went above and beyond. We felt you all year, thank you."

Asked about his future on Sunday, the longtime first baseman and six-time All-Star said he was "still not there yet." He apologized to fans for being ejected in what may have been his final game as a Red.

Votto acknowledged that the standing ovation and curtain call fans at Great American Ball Park gave him during the final home game of the season were "overwhelming" and a "humbling experience."

Votto hit .202 with 14 homers in 242 plate appearances this past season.
