Jimmies softball swept at Minot State

Feb. 6—MINOT, N.D. — The University of Jamestown softball team lost in walk-off fashion 4-3 at Minot State University on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Beavers' Air-supported Dome.

The Beavers opened the scoring in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead and then added on in the third on a two-run shot to take a 3-0 lead. The Jimmies' Hope Ransome helped herself out at the plate, as she hit her first career home run in the fourth to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Ransome came up clutch in the fifth on the mound as she got out of a bases-loaded jam to keep the score at 3-1. Her offense helped her out as they loaded the bases in the sixth and cut the deficit to 3-2 on a sac fly. The next batter was Ransome who continued her stellar debut with an RBI double to tie the game up at three.

The Winnipeg native finished her day throwing seven complete innings, giving up three hits on five runs with seven walks. At the dish, the freshman went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.

The Beavers walked the game off in the bottom of the eighth when Sara Van Weckler hit a single up the middle to score a run and give her team the 4-3 win.
