Jim Ned grad Colt McCoy will join Texas Sports Hall of Fame's 2024 Class

Jim Ned grad Colt McCoy will be inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame on April 13 in Waco.

The Texas Sports Hall of Fame announced Wednesday that McCoy will be part of the 2024 Class, along with former Texas teammate Jamaal Charles, Andy Cooper, Judge Roy Hofheinz, Barbara Jacket, Mike Leach, Jackie Sherrill, Bubba Thornton and Christa Williams.

McCoy was a two-time all-state quarterback at Jim Ned, where he set a Class 2A record for career passing yards (9,344). He led Jim Ned to the Class 2A Division I championship game as a junior in 2003, losing 28-7 against San Augustine.

McCoy went on to become a standout quarterback at the University of Texas from 2005 to 2009.

He was 45-8 as a four-year starter for the Longhorns (2006-09) and set 47 school records, including career passing yards (13,253), touchdowns (112) and completion percentage (70.3).

McCoy was a 2008 Walter Camp Award winner, 2009 Heisman Trophy finalist and four-year team MVP during his time at Texas.

The Cleveland Browns took McCoy in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft, and he played 12 seasons in the NFL with stops at San Francisco, Washington, New York and Arizona.

McCoy was cut by the Cardinals before this season, and he is currently a free agent.
