Jim Miller gets new opponent, now set to face Jared Gordon at June UFC Fight Night event

A pair of UFC lightweight veterans are now set to clash in June.

At a UFC Fight Night event on June 3 in Las Vegas, Jim Miller will face a new opponent in Jared Gordon.

The event will take place at the UFC Apex, and is headlined by a flyweight bout between Amir Albazi and former interim title challenger Kai Kara-France. MMA Junkie confirmed the news following a first report from MMA Underground’s John Morgan.

Miller (35-17 MMA, 24-16 UFC) was originally set to face the first Slovokia-born UFC fighter Ludovit Klein at the event, however, a change in opponent has led to the new matchup against Gordon (19-6 MMA, 7-5 UFC).

In his second fight of 2023, Miller, 39, will make his 42nd walk to the UFC’s octagon. He will be looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Alexander Hernandez in February, which snapped a three-fight winning streak. Miller picked up consecutive wins over Erick Gonzalez, Nikolas Motta and Donald Cerrone – all by second-round stoppage.

Gordon, 34, will be looking to get back on track after an accidental clash of heads lead to a no contest result against Bobby Green in April. It was his second-straight controversial result, after a highly-debated unanimous decision loss to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 282.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night event on June 3 includes:

  • Amir Albazi vs. Kai Kara-France

  • Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Miesha Tate

  • Alex Caceres vs. Daniel Pineda

  • Jared Gordon vs. Jim Miller

  • Andrei Arlovski vs. Don’Tale Mayes
