Jim Harbaugh sings 'Hail to the Victors' after Chargers draft Michigan LB Junior Colson

Usually, NFL head coaches are excited when their team officially submits their pick in the draft, but typically, they're not so excited that they start singing the fight song of that player's alma mater.

But then again, there really isn't anything all that typical about Jim Harbaugh.

Two worlds collided for the former Michigan football coach and current Los Angeles Chargers coach during the third round of the NFL draft on Friday when his new employer selected Wolverines linebacker Junior Colson with the 69th pick overall.

Colson was a major impact player for the Wolverines, racking up nearly 200 tackles over the last two years while losing just one game as the man in the middle of the stout Michigan defense.

THE BIG STAGE: Michigan ational champs brought on stage at NFL draft to start Day 2 in Detroit

Clearly his time with Harbaugh made quite the impression, as his former coach decided to add Colson to the long list of names moving with him from Ann Arbor to Los Angeles.

After the selection, Harbaugh was evidently so fired up by the pick, that he did a full, solo rendition of "Hail to the Victors," in honor of Colson joining him on the West Coast. To be fair, it's a song Harbaugh knows well after playing four seasons for the Wolverines and coaching in Ann Arbor for the last nine.

The Chargers' social media team caught the moment in the team's draft room on camera, and of course decided they had to share it out.

Harbaugh was robbed of the opportunity to sing the fight song on any other occasion, as many of the other top players from his team last year were snatched up by other teams in the draft. After Colson was selected, three other Wolverines (Blake Corum, Roman Wilson and Zak Zinter) were later picked in the third round, ironically all taken back-to-back-to-back. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, defensive tackle Kris Jenkins was drafted No. 49 overall in the second round by the Cincinnati Bengals, with defensive back Mike Sainristil going one pick later to the Washington Commanders at No. 50.

In total, seven Wolverines from Harbaugh's team have been drafted, including quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who was drafted at No. 10 in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings.
