Jerry Stackhouse adds former Tar Heel to Vanderbilt staff

Jerry Stackhouse is coming off an impressive 2022-23 season with Vanderbilt, earning the SEC Co-Coach of the Year award after leading the program to a 22-15 campaign. As Stackhouse is getting set for the upcoming season, he added another former Tar Heel to the coaching staff.

Stackhouse announced the hiring of fellow Tar Heel Donald Williams as director of player personnel. Williams joins Vanderbilt this fall, as one of a few additions to the program.

Here is what Stackhouse had to say about Williams in the announcement:

“Donald Williams is going to be an impactful addition to our basketball program,” Stackhouse said. “He is an extremely accomplished player and has had a successful coaching career at both the high school and grassroots levels. As an NCAA national champion, Final Four Most Outstanding Player, and former professional, Donald has a unique and valuable perspective. Those experiences are aligned with the goals of our student-athletes and I am excited to see him share his knowledge and mentor throughout our program.”

Williams played four seasons at North Carolina, earning the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player award for 1993, helping lead the program to a national championship.

He previously served as the head women’s basketball coach at Wakefield High School.
