Jerad Eickhoff struggles, Columbus Clippers fall to Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp
Thursday’s game: Jacksonville 8, Columbus 4
Recap: Clippers starter Jerad Eickhoff (1-4) gave up 12 hits and 7 earned runs in four innings of work, and it was simply too much for Columbus to overcome. The Clippers did attempt a rally with George Valera hitting an RBI single in the fourth. He was 2 for 3 on the night. The next batter up, Bryan Lavastida, recorded a double that plated two RBIs. Lavastida eventually came around to score on a Micah Pries double. The big blow for the Jumbo Shrimp came in the top half of that frame when Jake Mangum hit a grand slam. It was his fifth home run of the season.
