We know Supernatural isn't planning on ending any time soon, but Jensen Ackles has already dreamed up Dean Winchester's ending – and it's, erm... quite something.

As the series prepares to head into its 13th season, Jensen chatted to Entertainment Weekly about his ideas for the eventual fate of his character.

And like all good ideas, it came to him in a dream.

"I can see it right now. It's just one scene," he explains. "Think: Middle America, Big Sky country. It's just wheat fields as far as the eye can see, and there's an intersection, a crossroads, oddly enough."

So far, so symbolic.

Revealing his inspiration as none other than Lawrence of Arabia (why not, eh?), Jensen continued: "I drive up in the Impala, and I park in the middle of the intersection. There's nobody for miles.

"[I see] a guy on a motorbike. And we never really see his face. He's got a helmet on. But he walks up and I give him a nod, and I take a walk around the Impala very slowly and I walk back over to him and I hand the keys to him.

"And he takes off his helmet - we don't see who it is - he hands the helmet to me and hands me the keys to the bike. From his back, he gets in the car and I watch the Impala drive off."

Explaining that the scene will end with Dean taking off on the bike because he 'doesn't need' the extra seat anymore, Jensen added that it's all very Back to the Future.

"I even have the soundtrack in my head," he admitted. "There were no words spoken. I had this swelling score. It was like some Robert Zemeckis film."

Forget hunting monsters, someone get this guy a scriptwriting job.

Supernatural returns to The CW on Thursday, October 12. E4 airs the show in the UK.
