On Jayson Tatum’s late defense on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the OKC Thunder loss

The Boston Celtics were dealt a tough loss by the Oklahoma City Thunder this week, with All-NBA Celtics forward Jayson Tatum stepping up defensively against Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the tilt’s fourth quarter. Despite Tatum’s efforts late in the game, the deficit created as veteran guard Jrue Holiday struggled to contain the Thunder’s guards earlier in the contest did not set Boston up for success, and star forward Jaylen Brown had a difficult shooting night as well.

The Celtics faced challenges in defending against SGA’s drives to the cup in particular, leading to Thunder’s success in transition vs. Boston. The team showed resilience than it has in recent seasons with a fourth-quarter comeback but fell short in the end against a team as good as Oklahoma City has been to start this season.

The hosts of the “Talkin’ Cs/How Bout Them Celtics” podcast recently weighed in on the loss and specifically Tatum’s defense late in it.
