Jasper girls tennis advances to IHSAA state tournament for the fourth year in a row

JASPER, Ind. — For the fourth consecutive year, Jasper High School advances to the IHSAA girls tennis state finals.

The No. 4-ranked Wildcats defeated Castle 5-0 to punch their tickets to state. The Knights made their first tournament appearance in program history last season but fell in the quarterfinals. While Jasper won a state title in doubles in the same season, it now seeks its first-ever team championship. The last time the Wildcats played in the title match was in 2003.

This is the second semistate four-peat Jasper completed as a team in program history — its previous one happened from 2014-18. The only other program in Southwestern Indiana to win four or more semistate titles was Memorial in 1992-98 and from 2010-14.

Jasper will face No. 1 South Bend St. Joseph in the quarterfinals next Friday at 11 a.m. CDT at Carmel High School. The Huskies were state runners-up in two of the last three seasons and seek their first title since 2010. They came back to defeat No. 7-ranked and three-time defending champion Carmel 4-1 at semistate.
