Jake Browning's Bengals surge big-time on popular NFL power rankings lists

The Jake Browning-led Cincinnati Bengals made big strides on several NFL power rankings this week after beating the Indianapolis Colts.

The Bengals (7-6) beat the Colts (7-6) at home Sunday 34-14. Quarterback Browning, who is subbing in for an injured Joe Burrow, completed 18 of 24 passes for 275 yards and had two touchdowns.

Here's where the Bengals stand on popular NFL power rankings going into Week 15.

USA TODAY NFL power rankings: No. 14 (🔺7)

The Bengals ranked No. 14 on USA TODAY's list, up seven spots from last week's No. 21. The outlet noted Browning's impressive accuracy.

"Jake Browning's 79.3% completion rate through his first three starts is a record during the Super Bowl era (since 1966)," the list read. "He and Chad Pennington are the only ones in that span to connect on 70% of their passes and post a QB rating of at least 95.0 through their initial three starts, Browning's rating an astronomical 113.4."

ESPN NFL power rankings: No. 13 (🔺6)

ESPN placed the Bengals at No. 13 after their win over the Colts, up six spots from last week's No. 19. Writer Ben Baby highlighted Browning's performance and said the team's rate of offensive drives that are three-and-outs has dropped to 15.2% in the backup quarterback's three starts.

Yahoo NFL power rankings: No. 11 (🔺9)

Yahoo boosted the Bengals a whopping nine spots, putting the team at No. 11 going into Week 15.

Sports Illustrated NFL power rankings: No. 12 (🔺8)

Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr writes that football fans can "start to envision some kind of playoff berth" with Browning at the helm, calling him a decisive and fast-acting player.

"He has also logged a positive completion percentage over expectation in each of the Bengals’ last two games," Orr adds.

NFL power rankings: No. 13 (🔺5)

The NFL's power rankings called Browning "terrific overall" and shouted out tight end Tanner Hudson, who scored his first NFL touchdown during the third quarter on Sunday.
