Jahmyr Gibbs runs blazing 40-yard dash at NFL Combine. How it stacks up with others
Alabama football running back Jahmyr Gibbs showed his blazing speed on the field for the Crimson Tide throughout this past season. He also put it on display in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine this week.
The junior ran the 40-yard dash in 4.36 seconds on Sunday, which was tied for seventh-fastest among all players at the combine with three other players. Michigan cornerback DJ Turner II ran the fastest at 4.26.
The fastest running back was Texas A&M's Devon Achane, who ran a 4.32.
That's the number Gibbs said in January that he ran before transferring to Alabama from Georgia Tech.
The record all-time is 4.22.
In his lone season with Alabama, Gibbs tallied 926 yards on 151 carries and seven touchdowns. He also caught 44 passes for 444 yards and three scores. His longest reception went for 60 yards and his longest rush went for 76 yards.
A fast 40 time is a good sign for Gibbs because he's not a big back, making speed an important element of his game.
Gibbs is projected to be a high-round draft pick in the NFL Draft in late April.
