Jaguars 2023 roster review: QB Trevor Lawrence

The brunt of the offseason is in the books and training camp is still off on the horizon. Join us in the NFL’s dead zone with a player-by-player review of the Jaguars roster ahead of the 2023 season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars held outrageously high hopes when they picked Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 pick of the 2021 NFL draft. While his rookie year was anything but smooth, his second season gave the Jaguars every reason to believe the quarterback will live up to their lofty expectations.

After a relatively slow start to the 2022 season, Lawrence caught fire in the back half of the schedule. Over a six-game stretch, he threw 14 touchdowns with only one interception. The Jaguars ended the regular season on a five-game win streak, then Lawrence led his team back from a 27-0 deficit to win a playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Lawrence earned a spot in the Pro Bowl and now stands as the single biggest reason that there’s a swell of optimism surrounding the future of the Jaguars.

Contract (2023): $940,000 base salary, $6,029,725 prorated signing bonus, $3,064,863 roster bonus, $10,034,588 cap hit.

Acquired: Jaguars picked Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft.
