Here are the top performers from the Gadsden area for the week ending on Sept. 1, including Week One high school football action:

Friday, Sept. 1

Albertville's C.J. Zuniga found Hunter Smith for a touchdown in the 48-7 loss to Boaz. Smith finished with 71 receiving yards.

Boaz's Tristan Childers ran for 83 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-7 win over Albertville.

Boaz's Tyler Pierce ran for 60 yards and two scores.

Cherokee County's Jacob Cornejo ran for 208 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-6 win over Piedmont.

Cherokee County's Tae Diamond ran for a touchdown.

Cherokee County's Keyshawn Woods ran for 106 yards and a touchdown.

Collinsville's Gavin Lang caught two passes for two touchdowns in the 47-0 over Gaylesville.

Collinsville's Mason McAteer accounted for 100 yards and threw for three touchdowns.

Coosa Christian's Josh Hester ran for 155 yards and a touchdown in a 21-6 win over Spring Garden.

Coosa Christian's Clete O'Bryant ran for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Fort Payne's Kaden Dubose ran for 56 yards and a touchdown in a 54-27 win over Etowah.

Fort Payne's Nolan Fowler caught four passes for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Fort Payne's Blake Griggs caught six passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

Fort Payne's Dax Varnadore went 16 of 26 for 338 yards and four touchdowns.

Fyffe's Logan Anderson ran for 100 yards in a return from injury in the 17-6 loss to Geraldine.

Geraldine's Jaxon Colvin accounted for 92 yards and two touchdowns in a 17-6 win over Fyffe.

Geraldine's Carlos Mann accounted for 91 yards and a touchdown.

Guntersville's Enelson Delva ran for 204 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-7 win over Lawrence County.

Guntersville's Eli Morrison accounted for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

Guntersville's Street Smith ran for 83 yards and a touchdown on two carries.

Jacksonville Ky'Dric Fisher recorded 192 receiving yards and caught two touchdown passes in a 45-21 win over Alexandria.

Jacksonville's Jim Ogle went 19 of 26 for 404 yards passing and five touchdowns.

Jacksonville's Damonte Sinclair recorded 189 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Sardis's Landon Carroll caught four touchdowns for 65 yards and a touchdown in the 34-14 win over New Hope.

Sardis's Brian Chapman accounted for five touchdowns, three through the air and two on the ground while throwing for 241 yards and running for 50 more.

Sardis's Blaze Gerhart caught six passes for 62 yards and two touchdown while running for 60 yards.

Spring Garden's Josh Welsh caught two passes for 76 yards and a touchdown in a 21-6 loss to Coosa Christian.

Susan Moore's Drew Justice ran for 151 yards and three touchdowns in the 33-6 win over West End.

Susan Moore's Gabe Garcia had two sacks.

Thursday, Aug. 31

Hokes Bluff's Anderson Morgan intercepted two passes in a 37-12 loss to Southside.

Southside's Gauge Nesmith ran for an 85-yard touchdown and set the school's all time passing record in a 37-12 win over Hokes Bluff.

Southside's Mason Teague ran for 223 yards and three touchdowns.

Volleyball

Plainview's Faith Odom recorded 53 kills and 39 digs over eight games.

Plainview's Ali Price recorded 169 assists over eight games.

Sand Rock's Katelyn St. Clair finished the week with 102 kills and 46 digs over nine games.

Sand Rock's Rylin St. Clair tallied 183 assists.

Cross country

Fyffe's Dawson McCollum finished second at the Pisgah Invitational small-school race with a time of 18:53.

Fort Payne's Kyndal Hughes finished first the Pisgah Invitational large-school race with a time 23:00, leading the Wildcats to the team win.

Pisgah's Kyndal Hughes finished first the Pisgah Invitational small-school race with a time 23:34, leading the Eagles to the team win.
