Jacksonville Jaguars OLB Josh Allen earns PFWA All-AFC team recognition

Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker Josh Allen added another accolade to his growing resume after being named to the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-AFC team Monday afternoon.

Allen was named alongside Pittsburgh Steelers OLB T.J. Watt for the honor. It is the first time Allen has appeared on the PFWA in-season honors list since being selected seventh overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Before Allen's appearance, the last Jaguars player to earn All-AFC honors from the PFWA was defensive lineman Calais Campbell in 2019. The Jaguars had four on the list in 2017, including Campbell, cornerback A.J. Bouye, defensive tackle Malik Jackson and CB Jalen Ramsey.

Jacksonville has had 15 players named to the PFWA's All-AFC teams in their history.

Allen is coming off his best year as a pro, posting career-highs in sacks (17.5, franchise record) and quarterback hits (33). He accounted for 66 tackles (43 solos) and 17 tackles for loss. He was named to the Pro Bowl for a second time and first time without being named an alternate.

In his Jaguars career, Allen has accounted for 45 sacks, 251 total tackles, 53 tackles for loss, 103 quarterback hits, nine forced fumbles and two interceptions. Allen ranks second all-time in sacks, surpassing Yannick Ngankoue this year. He is 10 sacks away from Tony Brackens' record. Brackens played for Jacksonville from 1996-03.

The PFWA has selected an All-NFL team since 1966, and All-AFC and All-NFC teams since 1992. The PFWA will announce Rookie of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year, All-Rookie team, Most Valuable Player, Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, Coach of the Year, Executive of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, Comeback Player of the year and Most Improved Player of the Year honors as the week continues.
