Taylor confirmed the sophomore had not practiced with the team this spring on April 7.

“He’s still part of our team for now,” Taylor said then. “Sy’Veon is trying to figure some things out right now. He’s a part of this team until he tells us he’s not. But he’s trying to figure some things out. We’ve got to focus on the guys that’s in here now.”

Wilkerson had 227 carries for 1,152 yards and nine TDs in 13 games last season. He had a season-high 214 yards and and two TDs in Jackson State's 41-14 victory over Texas Southern on Nov. 5.
