IU basketball among first to contact Penn transfer Jordan Dingle, Ivy League Player of Year

BLOOMINGTON – Indiana was among the first schools to reach out to Jordan Dingle upon news Friday the Penn guard had entered the transfer portal, likely making him a priority target going forward for the Hoosiers.

Ivy League Player of the Year last season, Dingle averaged 23.4 points per game for the Quakers. He has averaged double figures in scoring in each of his three collegiate seasons, and better than 20 points per game across the past two.

Listed at 6-3, 195 pounds, Dingle will be among the most sought-after guards in the portal cycle, provided he stays in college. Dingle is also testing the NBA draft waters as an early entrant right now.

Insider: No portal win can match importance of Xavier Johnson's return

Insider: After bright start to portal, IU has swung and missed. But there's still time.

Should he elect to withdraw, his commitment will be coveted by a deep well of schools, IU among them. The Hoosiers have minutes and shots to spare from their backcourt at the moment, with most of their spring work done in the post. And they need a volume scorer to pair with Xavier Johnson, their newly-restored point guard whose sixth year of eligibility was confirmed via NCAA waiver earlier this week.

It remains to be seen how involved the Hoosiers will get with Dingle, but if he’s receptive, it’s likely he will be atop the wish list in the weeks to come.
