Iowa State women's basketball game against TCU canceled due to lack of players for Horned Frogs

The Iowa State women's basketball team has already secured a win over Texas Christian.

And the Cyclones didn't even have to take the court.

On Wednesday, the Big 12 Conference announced that the showdown between the Cyclones and Horned Frogs, which was scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been canceled due to TCU not having enough players available. The league also canceled Wednesday night's game between TCU and Kansas State.

Because of the cancelations, Iowa State and Kansas State pick up wins over TCU in the league standings. TCU picks up two losses. Overall records are not impacted, though.

Conference rules state that a league team unable to field a team will forfeit if no extraordinary circumstances exist.

The Horned Frogs have had to deal with several big injuries, recently announcing that point guard Jaden Owens would miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL and meniscus in her right knee. TCU senior Sedona Prince announced last week she suffered a broken finger.

The Cyclones have turned into one of the biggest surprise stories in the league by going from what was thought to be a rebuilding season to competing for a conference crown. Saturday's cancelation counts as an immediate conference win for the Cyclones who enter Wednesday night's game at Texas Tech with a 6-0 record in Big 12 play.
