Iowa State freshman Jalynn Bristow enters transfer portal

The Iowa State women's basketball team is losing a member of its "fantastic five" freshman class that contributed so much to the Cyclones' success this season.

Jalynn Bristow, a 6-foot-2 forward for the Cyclones, has entered the transfer portal, a source with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed to the Register on Thursday.

Bristow, a native of Holliday, Texas, was a key contributor off the bench for the Cyclones this season.

In 22 games, including two starts, she averaged 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Bristow logged a career-high 27 minutes in Iowa State's loss to Stanford in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. During a game against Troy back in December, she poured in 17 points.

Bristow was part of a highly decorated freshman class that guided Iowa State to a fourth-place finish in the Big 12 Conference. The Cyclones reached the Big 12 Tournament title game and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Bristow is the second Iowa State player to enter the portal this week. Guard Shantavia Dawkins announced Wednesday that she was transferring.

Bristow was among the biggest stars of Iowa State's recruiting class, ranked No. 47 on 2023 HoopGurlz Recruiting espnW 100.
