Introducing The News-Press 2023 Girls All-Area Golf Team

At the end of each season, The News-Press selects All-Area teams honoring the best athletes for every sport. Coaches from area schools are sent nomination forms and are asked to nominate and rate their own athletes as well as those from other teams. That data combined with The News-Press' own research led to the selection of the All-Area teams.

FIRST TEAM

Amelia Alonso

School: Fort Myers

Year: Junior

Highlights: Alonso won the District 2A-13 tournament by a whopping 25 strokes. She also tied for 13^th place at regionals and tied for 37th at the Class 2A state tournament.

Morgan Franklin

School: Bishop Verot

Year: Senior

Highlights: Franklin tied for second at the District A-12 tournament. She also placed 12^th at regionals and tied for 36^th place at the Class 1A state tournament.

Jensi Krampel

School: Estero

Year: Freshman

Highlights: Krampel placed third in the District 2A-14 tournament, helping lead the Wildcats to the overall team title. She also tied for 10^th place at regionals and tied for 22^nd at the Class 2A state tournament.

Amelia Loninger

School: Bishop Verot

Year: Senior

Highlights: Loninger tied for seventh place at the District A-12 tournament. She also finished as the individual runner-up at regionals and tied for 41^st place at the Class 1A state tournament.

Samantha Loninger

School: Bishop Verot

Year: Sophomore

Highlights: Loninger tied for second place at the District A-12 Tournament. She also tied for fourth at regionals and placed 11^th at the Class 1A state tournament.

Jamie Lowry

School: Cypress Lake

Year: Junior

Highlights: Lowry, who opted to compete in the boys’ classification this season, tied for fourth place at the District 2A-14 tournament. She also tied for 25th place at regionals.

Jeff Nixon

School: Bishop Verot

Highlights: Nixon helped guide the Vikings to runner-up finishes in both the District 1A-12 and Region 1A-3 tournaments. Bishop Verot also placed 10^th as a team at the Class 1A state tournament.
