Illinois SpeedWeek finishes in Macon, Lincoln

It is a big weekend at two local dirt racing tracks near Springfield.

The POWRi National Midget League wraps up Illinois SpeedWeek with stops at Macon Speedway on Saturday and at Lincoln Speedway on Sunday.

Prior to Friday’s race at the Jacksonville Speedway, Mason City’s Karter Sarff trails Corbin Rueschenberg, of Mesa, Arizona, 1,000-850 in the national Midget points race. Sarff won on May 5 in Sweet Springs, Missouri and was fourth the following day at Wheatland, Missouri. On Thursday in Charleston, he finished 22nd in the feature race.

Saturday’s event at Macon Speedway will include three other divisions, including DIRTcar Modifieds, DIRTcar Street Stocks and the POWRi Outlaw Micro League. On Saturday, pit gates open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 5 p.m., hot laps start at 6 p.m. and the races begin at 7 p.m. General admission is $20. Admission is free for children 11 and under.

Macon Speedway is a 1/5th-mile dirt track and located nine miles south of Decatur on U.S. 51.

On Saturday, POWRi National Midget League travels approximately an hour northwest to the ¼-mile dirt track at Lincoln Speedway.

On top of the midgets, Lincoln Speedway will offer the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Super Late Models on Sunday as well as the Summit Modified Nationals.

On Sunday, pit gates open at 2 p.m., grandstands at 4 p.m. with hot laps starting at 6 p.m. Racing begins at 7 p.m. General grandstand admission is $30. Admission for children 11 and under is $5. Pit passes are available for $40 for adults and $20 for children 11 and under.
