IHSAA volleyball: No sophomore slump for these Central Indiana standouts

This year's senior class is stacked with talent, but the sophomores certainly made their mark, as well. Here were some of the best Central Indiana high school volleyball players from the Class of 2026.

Josie Imes, Zionsville, OH-DS

Imes led the Eagles in kills (279) and aces (53), and ranked second with 316 digs. She had 19 kills in a five-set win over Tri-West and 15 in a five-set win over Western Boone (with five aces in both outings).

Ania Kilburn, Avon, OH

The 5-11 Kilburn led the sectional champion Orioles' attack with 319 kills, 15 of which came in the sectional finals vs. Brownsburg. She also picked up 42 total blocks and 35 digs.

Rose Mahin, Franklin, OH

A 5-10 attacker, Mahin led the Grizzly Cubs with 308 kills over 82 sets, with 17 double-digit kill performances (season-high 24 vs. Center Grove). She also totaled 52 aces, 23 total blocks and 251 digs.

Izzy Masten, Tri-West, OH

A standout both indoors and on the beach, the 5-8 Masten racked up 417 kills on .287 hitting with 68 aces, 35 blocks and 345 digs. She had 25 kills in a five-set loss to Zionsville and a season-high 27 vs. Springs Valley. Masten has 682 career kills.

Madison Miles, Hamilton Southeastern, OH

The 6-1 sophomore shined as part of a senior-driven Royals lineup, totaling 171 kills on a .381 hit%. Miles, who also notched 32 blocks, scored a season-high 10 kills in a four-set win over Cathedral.

Macie Smith, Hamilton Heights, OH

Smith racked up a team-high 463 kills, 64 blocks, 47 aces and 224 digs for the sectional champion Huskies. The team captain enters her junior season with 803 kills, 107 blocks, 81 aces and 439 digs.

Lydia Stahley, Roncalli, OH

Stahley was the regional champion Royals' second-leading attacker, accumulating 224 kills with a .293 hit%. The 6-1 hitter went for 20 kills and hit .429 in the regional final vs. Yorktown, and finished with 11 vs. Castle in semistate.

Hayli Clampitt, Speedway, MH

Clampitt accumulated 175 kills (tied for second-most on the team) and hit .270 for the sectional champion Sparkplugs. She also ranked second on the team for solo blocks (14) and total blocks (35).

Described as a "student of the game" by her head coach, Lewis was second on the Irish with a .322 hit% and 47 total blocks. She also tallied 146 kills and 29 aces.

Reese Resmer, Noblesville, MH

Of Resmer's 82 blocks, 30 were solo efforts. She averaged 2.6 blocks per match and was charged with only two errors (six blocks vs. both Yorktown and Brownsburg). The 6-0 middle factored in on the attack, as well, tallying 257 kills with a .431 hit%.

Reese Blanchard, Brebeuf Jesuit, S

Blanchard racked up 582 assists while running a retooled Brebeuf attack. She had 50 assists in a five-set loss to North Central in early October, and rounded out her line with 258 digs, 26 total blocks and 26 aces.

Madison Brown, Noblesville, S

Brown cleared 1,000 assists in her second varsity season, logging 1,075 over 110 sets played (9.8 per set). She went over 40 assists in 10 matches, highlighted by a 61-assist effort in a five-set win over Fishers in the sectional quarterfinals. Brown, who also served 39 aces, has 1,890 career assists.

Samantha Gooding, New Palestine, S

Gooding was among the state leaders with 989 assists and was charged with only 27 errors on 2,527 attempts. She also served up 35 aces, assisted on 21 blocks (22 total blocks) and registered 44 kills.

The 5-11 setter shined in her first full varsity season, accumulating 875 assists, 187 digs, 43 total blocks, 26 aces and 94 kills (.321 hit%) over 101 sets. She cleared 45 assists in three matches, including a career-high 50 in the regional championship vs. Yorktown.

Aiva Kresge, Greenwood Christian, S

Kresge aided the Cougars' run to semistate, piling up 516 assists (4.8 per set), 217 digs, 128 kills and a team-high 85 aces. She had 13 aces in a sectional match vs. Central Christian and totaled 42 assists across two regional tournament matches.

Brittain Bills, Avon, L

Bills captained the Orioles' defense, registering 392 digs in 104 sets with 70 assists and a team-high 66 aces. She had 10 aces vs. Ben Davis and 25 digs in the sectional final vs. Brownsburg.

Alana Eastridge, Eastern Hancock, L-DS

Eastridge upped her career-high in digs to 372 over 86 sets. She averaged 4.9 receptions per set (421 total), and tallied 28 aces and 37 assists. She had 20-plus digs in five matches, including a season-high 28 vs. North Decatur.

Azure Flagle, New Palestine, L

Flagle shined in her first season as New Pal libero, averaging 5.2 digs per set (499 total) over 96 sets, with 28 errors on 394 receptions. She posted double-digit digs in all but seven matches, with a career-high 38 in a five-set win over Hamilton Heights. Flagle also notched 52 aces.

Turk averaged over two digs per set (200 total), with 13 errors on 271 receptions playing alongside LSU-bound senior Aly Kirkhoff. The 5-6 defensive specialist also posted 27 aces and 24 assists.

Kate Vrabel, Brownsburg, L-DS

The 5-9 Vrabel was very good defensively for the Bulldogs, totaling 470 digs over 105 sets (4.5 per set). She logged a career-high 34 digs in a four-set win over Zionsville — one of her nine matches with 20-plus digs. Vrabel also picked up 34 aces and 73 assists.
