IHSAA boys basketball Fab 15: Lawrence North on top going into Marion County tournament

A look at this week’s Fab 15, a weekly ranking of the top high school basketball teams in Central Indiana:

1. Lawrence North (10-0)

The Wildcats broke open a close game after three quarters for a 62-47 victory over Warren Central as Kobi Bowles and Azavier Robinson led the way with 15 points each. Lawrence North won despite shooting 15-for-29 from the free-throw line. Up next: at Lawrence Central (the game was moved due to an issue with the Lawrence North gym) on Tuesday in the first round of the Marion County tournament. Previous: 1.

2. Fishers (12-0)

The Tigers rolled to an 87-65 win over Pike as junior JonAnthony Hall went for 26 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots in their only game of the week. Up next: vs. Brownsburg on Friday in another one-game week. Previous: 2.

3. Cathedral (10-0)

The Irish traveled to both ends of the state, winning at Hammond Bishop Noll 76-58 and then winning at Providence three days later, 74-40. Junior Brady Koehler had 29 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win over Hammond Noll and picked up an offer from Notre Dame. Deric Cannady had 22 points on 4-for-5 shooting from the 3-point line in the win over Providence. Up next: vs. Guerin Catholic on Saturday. Previous: 3.

4. Westfield (9-0)

The Shamrocks picked up three wins last week, knocking off Mt. Vernon (41-30), Yorktown (64-38) and Carmel (44-31). Nic Book had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Carmel. Westfield hosts Hamilton Southeastern on Friday. Previous: 4.

5. Noblesville (10-1)

The Millers knocked off Pike (69-46) and Muncie Central (66-39) to sweep the week. Aaron Fine had 22 points in the win over Pike and went for 20 points and six rebounds against Muncie Central. Up next: at Zionsville (Friday) and Connersville (Saturday). Previous: 5.

6. Ben Davis (8-2)

Ramone Enis went for 25 points and six rebounds in Ben Davis’ 68-54 win over North Central, leading four players in double figures. Mark Zackary, who picked up an Oregon football offer last week, had 12 assists. The Giants, who also knocked off Washington 63-41, have a tough Marion County tournament opener at home Tuesday night vs. Brebeuf Jesuit. The winner will play at Southport or Franklin Central on Wednesday night. Previous: 6.

7. Crispus Attucks (10-3)

The Tigers, coming off winning the Hall of Fame Classic, rolled to an 84-65 win over Gary 21st Century as Dezmon Briscoe posted a triple-double with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. The Tigers are off this week. Previous: 10.

8. Greenfield-Central (11-0)

The Cougars knocked off Mt. Vernon behind a big 39-point game from junior Braylon Mullins. Up next are a pair of home games against New Castle (Friday) and Eastern Hancock (Saturday). Mullins is averaging 25.8 points and 5.9 rebounds through 11 games. Previous: 9.

9. Warren Central (6-5)

The Warriors lost 62-47 to Lawrence North, letting the Wildcats get away in the fourth quarter but then bounced back for a 46-42 win at Hamilton Southeastern. Warren Central hosts Decatur Central on Tuesday in the first round of the Marion County tournament. The winner will play at Roncalli or Speedway in the quarterfinal. Previous: 10.

10. North Central (6-3)

The Panthers saw their three-game winning streak snapped with a 68-54 loss to Ben Davis. The good news? A quick turnaround to the Marion County tournament this week. North Central will play at Lutheran in the first round on Tuesday. The winner of that game will play at Beech Grove or Park Tudor in the quarterfinal on Wednesday. Previous: 8.

11. Franklin (10-1)

The Grizzly Cubs took down Mooresville 87-53 for a ninth consecutive win as Micah Davis scored 26 points and dished 10 assists, along with six rebounds and four steals. Up next is first round Johnson County tournament game at Whiteland on Tuesday. The winner will play in the county semifinals on Friday at Center Grove vs. Indian Creek or Greenwood Christian. Previous: 13.

12. Brebeuf Jesuit (7-3)

The Braves dropped a 65-64 heartbreaker to Zionsville in their lone game of the week. That is on the heels of a two-point loss to Warren Central the previous week. Evan Haywood had 25 points in the win on 6-for-11 shooting from the 3-point line and Javawn Brooks added 15 points. Brebeuf is at Ben Davis on Tuesday night in the first round of the Marion County tournament. Previous: 12.

13. New Palestine (8-2)

The Dragons got a 34-point game from junior Julius Gizzi in a 62-54 win over Class 3A second-ranked Delta. Gizzi also had nine rebounds and two steals and Ben Slagley added 16 points and six rebounds. Up next: vs. Pendleton Heights (Friday). Previous: 14.

14. Park Tudor (8-2)

Park Tudor notched wins over Lawrence Central (66-64) and Metropolitan (82-48). The Panthers have a home game Tuesday in the Marion County tournament against Beech Grove and would then host either North Central or Lutheran in the quarterfinal on Wednesday. Previous: NR.

15. Avon (10-3)

The Orioles crack the Fab 15 for the first time this season after running the table in the Hendricks County tournament with wins over Brownsburg (57-56 in three overtimes), Plainfield (51-48) and Danville (68-42). Rohan Pearson was the star vs. Brownsburg and Plainfield with game-winning shots. Jedidiah Minnett had 24 points in the win over Danville. Up next: vs. Mt. Vernon (Thursday). Previous: NR.

Dropped out: Plainfield (11), Brownsburg (15)

Next five in line: Plainfield (9-5), Center Grove (7-4), Brownsburg (7-6), Hamilton Southeastern (8-4), Guerin Catholic (10-4)
