ICYMI: Grass Skiing is Alive in Virginia—and More Ski News

This article originally appeared on Ski Mag

Need an alternative to summer mountain biking and really missing the way the snowy breeze blows through your hair on two planks? Well, have you considered grass skiing? Probably one of the more overlooked of the ski disciplines (though still hosting its own World Cup events!), grass skiing appears to be live and well in the hills of...Virginia? Yep, the script reads right, the Lover's State is having an off-season affair with the alpine, bringing its gas to the grass. Mikaela Shiffrin wins ESPY for Best Female Athlete
The GOAT capped off her record-breaking season on the red carpet this week, taking home her first ESPY and the biggest individual award in North American sports, earning the title of 2022/2023 Best Female Athlete. After breaking Pepi's World Cup win record this year there wasn't a whole lot for the young American to win, but she padded the trophy case in style, beating out U.S. Women's National Team and Portland Thorns soccer player Sophia Smith, Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek, and Las Vegas Aces basketball player A'ja Wilson.

Vermont ski resorts ravaged by summer flooding

Vermont was underwater this week after a powerful overnight storm dropped inches of rain across upper New England. Severe flooding inundated towns and reached base areas of popular ski areas like Killington and Okemo. While there were reports of water in base area buildings, it does appear that lift operations will be unaffected, though the communities that run them have a few long months of recovery in store. Check out this video from the entrance of Okemo Resort and support your Green Mountain friends in the coming weeks.

Are we a celeb wakesurfing channel now? Zuckerberg gets pitted

We watched Lindsey slay it, and Shakira has some serious moves in the pocket, but Mark Zuckerberg pulled up and said, "Hold my Meta," this week, ripping some morning wake in Lake Tahoe. The tech giant has reportedly been working out non-stop these days, and it seems like adrenaline might be part of the new diet. I think the ladies might make a better case in the style department, but hey, the celebrity wake train rolls on. Zuck off the lip!
