Huntington’s Jamarion Washington wins Times preseason fans' choice football award
Huntington junior wide receiver Jamarion Washington, who has been offered by Grambling State, topped 40 additional athletes from 41 Shreveport-Bossier City area football teams to win the 2023 Times Fans' Choice Player of the Year recognition.
The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Washington and his supporters amassed 24,325 votes, 29.16% of the 83,738 votes cast to garner the honor. Finishing second was Loyola’s Reagan Cole, who brought in 12,102 votes (14.5%) in the online-only voting.
“Jamarion ‘Speedy’ Washington is the Swiss Army knife for our offense,” Huntington coach Steve Dennis said. “He can play receiver, running back, punt/kickoff returner, and will even run a little wildcat quarterback. His speed and playmaking ability are special."
