Hubert Davis, UNC keeping tabs on intriguing 2024 prospects

The UNC basketball staff is on the road this week for the live evaluation period, watching recruits from future classes play in tournaments. The biggest event is the Nike EYBL session taking place in Kansas City as the Tar Heels have set up shop there so far.

While head coach Hubert Davis has watched 2023 commit G.G. Jackson on both Thursday and Friday, the Tar Heels are also keeping tabs on two other recruits in the 2024 cycle.

UNC sent three coaches, including Davis, to watch four-star in-state prospect Isaiah Evans per Joe Tipton of On3. Evans is a Huntersville, North Carolina prospect that is ranked as a Top 20 player by 247Sports. He has a total of 7 offers and with UNC showing interest, an offer from the Tar Heels could be looming.

But Evans wasn’t the only prospect they watched in Kansas City.

Sean May was on hand to watch five-star small forward Jason Asemota on Friday. Asemota is a top 15 player that is drawing the interest of several big programs and had a big game to open up the event:

This isn’t the first time May has watched Asemota, either. The assistant checked in on him earlier in the Spring and then Asemota announced he was taking a visit to UNC this Summer.

The interest is certainly there and with UNC hoping to reel in some big recruits for the 2024 cycle, he could be a name high on their list.
