Host Latta shuts out Konawa
Mar. 20—Latta, ranked No. 7 in Class 2A, improved to 3-1 on the year, while Konawa dropped to 1-5.
The Panthers traveled to Caney on Tuesday and will make a road trip to Stonewall at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Konawa is at Byng Friday for another local matchup.

Gray struck out nine, didn't walk a batter and allowed just two hits in the five-inning contest.
The Panthers put the game away early by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Latta had just four total hits but took advantage of seven walks and three hit batters. Landon Fortner finished 2-for-2 with a double for the hosts. Ryder Perry went 1-for-1 with an RBI and Hunter Price had the other LHS base hit.
Cooper McKeel and Grady Moore had the only hits for the Tigers.
Byng slides past Bethany
BYNG — The Byng Pirates pushed across two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and clipped Bethany 4-2 in a District 4A-1 matchup Monday at Stokes Field.
Coach Shawn Streater's bunch evened its record at 4-4 on the year, while Bethany dropped to 5-4.
The two teams played against Tuesday in Bethany. Byng is scheduled to host Konawa Friday night.

Mason Carter reached on a Bethany error to get Byng started in the fifth inning. Carter went to second on a groundout by Preston Welch and then promptly stole third. After Cooper McCage walked, Carter scored on a base hit by Bo Boatwright.
Cooper McCage, who had walked earlier in the frame, stole home during a double steal that put the Pirates ahead 4-2.
Hagen Graham was the winning pitcher for Byng. He struck out 10, walked two and allowed just two hits in six shutout innings of relief.
Charlie Tolle pitched all six innings for the Bronchos. He struck out six, walked four and allowed one earned run.
Boatwright had one of just three Byng hits in the contest but was credited with three RBIs. Graham and Ryan Shelton had the other Byng singles.
Bethany was also limited to three total hits from Cade Ross, Levi Moore and Josh Pierce.
Stonewall improves to 8-0 on the year
WETUMKA — Stonewall used an eight-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth inning to turn a tight game into a 10-2 walk-off victory over Davenport Monday at the Wetumka Festival.
The Longhorns had stampeded host Wetumka 19-0 earlier in the day.
Coach Dillon Monday's squad, ranked No. 19 in Class A, stayed unbeaten at 8-0 on the spring. Davenport dropped to 3-7 and Wetumka fell to 4-7.
Stonewall hosted Ripley Tuesday and was set to welcome local foe Latta to town Thursday night.

Mika Matt, Laden Bailey and Garrett Gambrell all had RBI doubles in Stonewall's big sixth-inning outburst that snapped a 2-2 tie.
Matt, Gambrell, Jamison Carrington and Landon Gutierrez all had two hits apiece to pace an 11-hit SHS offense.
Matt went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored; Gambrell finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored; Carrington ended up 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Gutierrez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Freshman Kaleb Prince was the winning pitcher for the Longhorns. He struck out 12, walked two and didn't allow an earned run in six strong innings.
Bryson Dingman hit a double and drove in two runs for Davenport. Tyler Gilkinson had the other DHS hit.
Stonewall 18, Wetumka 0
The Longhorns broke the game open with eight runs in the top of the second inning and then ended the contest early with six more runs in the third and final frame.
Stonewall collected six hits in the game, including a pair of doubles from Taegus Pogue. He finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the visitors.
Kaden Romines went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Mika Matt ended up 1-for-3 with a walk, three RBIs and three runs scored from the top of the SHS batting order.
Landon Gutierrez didn't have a hit but was hit by a pitch, walked, stole three bases and scored two runs for the Longhorns. He also earned the pitching victory. Gutierrez struck out five, didn't walk a batter and didn't allow a hit in three scoreless innings for Stonewall.
