Hornets Reactions: Gassed Hornets blown out on by Bulls on the road

The Charlotte Hornets dropped their sixth game in the last seven contests on Thursday as the Chicago Bulls won in a blowout, 108-91.

The Hornets never led on Thursday and trailed by as many as 27 points, that coming midway through the fourth quarter after the benches had emptied. Despite not leading, Charlotte was within shouting distance for much of the first half.

Devonte’ Graham and Terry Rozier did as much as they could to make it a close contest on the night, finishing with 16 and 11 points, respectively. However, the Hornets again struggled to find points offensively as only Miles Bridges (13) and Brad Wanamaker (11) finished in double digits.

Nikola Vucevic, meanwhile, led Chicago with 18 points and 16 rebounds while Coby White and Thaddeus Young also each had 18 points.

The Good: Miles Bridges poster

One of the few bright consistent bright marks in the last few weeks for the Hornets has been that Miles Bridges will put an opponent on a poster. On Thursday, it was Vucevic who tried to make a business decision to get out of the way but ultimately did not do enough. https://twitter.com/hornets/status/1385413590052708359 Bridges has been perhaps the brightest spot for the Hornets this season given his durability and the jump he has made on both ends of the court.

The Bad: Gassed

One could hardly blame the Hornets for being gassed. For the majority of the past month, they have been without three key rotation pieces with moments mixed in where they were without four or five of their top nine players. While the team battled valiantly early in that span, the reality is this Hornets team has looked exhausted for the last few weeks. Offensively, the team goes largely as Rozier and Graham go and it's a burden that has worn both of them down. Defensively, not having three perimeter defenders has left the team exposed. While LaMelo Ball looks close to a return, Charlotte is going to need multiple bodies back if they are to realistically challenge teams in the play-in game.
