There are three more Section V boys soccer champions after tournament finals were played on Saturday, bringing the total of trophy winners to six.

There is one remaining sectional championship game:

  • No. 1 seed Spencerport faces No. 2 Churchville-Chili in the Class AA final, 7 p.m. on Halloween at Honeoye Falls-Lima.

Newly crowned Class C1 champion Byron-Bergen/Elba and Class C2 winner Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale playoff for a spot in the state tournament regional or quarterfinals on November 1.

Byron-Bergen/Elba 1, East Rochester 0

The lone goal scored in the Section V Class C1 final at Avon came in the first half, off the left foot of junior forward Jack Farner.

Colin Martin shielded off an East Rochester player to gain possession, dribbled forward and moved the ball to Farner, who moved left to set up his shot. Farner zipped his shot past East Rochester's diving goalkeeper from about 15 yards out with 38 minutes remaining in the first half.

Hornell 3, Bishop Kearney/Chesterton 1

Pasquale Picco scored two goals in the second half of the Section V Class B final at Geneseo.

The Red Raiders led 1-0 at the half and scored the first two goals.

Hornell was in firm control after Picco collected a missed pass, dribbled upfield and kicked a shot past the goalkeeper's left with 29:27 remaining in the second half.

Hornell's 2-0 lead was reduced 4:24 later by Josh Baraka. But Picco struck again with his left foot when there were just 4:51 remaining, as he re-established Hornell's two-goal lead after he was fed a rolling pass by Jack Emo.

Hornell was in front 1-0 at the half after a goal scored by Wyatt Evingham.

Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale 2, Geneseo 1

The Section V Class C2 final was tied 1-1 until Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale senior forward Tanner Lewis scored with 13:18 remaining at Avon.

Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale sophomore forward Robert Childs sent a ball from near the sidelines on his left that went off a Geneseo defender and into the path of Lewis. On the run, Lewis tapped a shot to his right into the net.

All of the goals were scored during the second half, the first by Lewis, who poked a rebound of a shot by Childs past the Geneseo goalkeeper with 29:07 remaining.

The Geneseo Blue Devils were having a tough time getting past Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale defenders, when Adam Niedermaier looped a shot from about 25 yards high into the net to even the score with 23:24 left.
