Homers, strikeouts and steals: Vote for IHSAA baseball players of the week (April 24-29)

IndyStar will be recognizing the top baseball players in Indiana with our players of the week poll.

Congrats to Case Sullivan of Carmel baseball. Sullivan is the second Carmel Greyhound to win player of the week in a row. The Marshall commit went 4-for-6 on the week two doubles and a triple. He reached base in 9-of-11 plate appearances with four walks and a hit by pitch.

Here are this past week's top performers:

Mitchell Dean, Western

The Louisville commit has been nearly unhittable this season. Dean threw a one-hit, 16 strikeouts shutout against Cass.

Bradyn Douglas, Frankton

Douglas went 9-for-18 (.500) with nine runs scored, five RBI, one double, three triples and a stolen base.

Aidan Holtzapple, Brebeuf Jesuit

The lefty masher was a run-producing machine for Brebeuf. Holtzapple homered in three straight games, finishing the week going 7-for-9 (.778) with 12 RBI, five runs scored, four doubles and three home runs.

Jake Hooker, University

The Xavier commit is heating up at the plate for the Trailblazers. Hooker went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, five RBI and two home runs. On the mound, Hooker struck out 10 and allowed one run over four innings in a win over Bishop Luers.

Gavin Kuzniewski, Fishers

The Ohio State commit helped Fishers complete its sweep of Hamilton Southeastern with a one-hit, 10-strikeout shutout against the Royal. Kuzniewski carried a perfect game into the fifth inning. At the plate, the junior went 4-for-15 (.267) with six runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and a home run.

Isaac Pierson, Tri-West

Pierson was lights out on the mound for Tri-West against Lebanon. The junior threw a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in the win over the Tigers. At the plate, Pierson went 3-for-11 (.272) with a double and a run scored.

Christian Pownall, Western

The Ohio State commit recorded 18 strikeouts in a shutout over Cass. Pownall walked just one batter and allowed five hits.

Eli Shaw, Warren Central

Shaw was lights out on the mound for the Warriors in wins against Lawrence North and Plainfield. Over two appearances, the IU commit did not allow an earned run over 11 innings, striking out 23 and surrendering just seven hits.

Ian Taylor, Guerin Catholic

Taylor was key in two big Guerin wins over Heritage Christian and Carmel, respectively. Taylor went 2-for-5 (.400) with a triple, five RBI and a run scored.

Mason Tibbs, Brownsburg

Tibbs came up big in Brownsburg's win over Avon. Tibbs went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the Bulldogs 4-3 win. The senior earned the win on the mound allowing three earned runs over 6⅔ innings with four strikeouts.
