How Holland Christian volleyball claimed OK Blue title

FRUITPORT - The Holland Christian volleyball team claimed the OK Blue Conference title for the second year in a row on Tuesday.

The Maroons defeated Fruitport 3-1.

"All of the girls played well and led the way with Ellen Wierda and Hannah Chase playing outstanding defense with Jaylyn and Cortney Leep hitting over .500. Very proud of our effort and fight," Holland Christian coach Gerrit VanKlaveren said.

Holland Christian topped second-place Coopersville last week in the OK Blue tournament to put itself in position for the title with a 3-0 win.

In tha tmatch, Kierea Smits had 10 kills and Tianna Stygstra had nine. Teagan Schoonveld and Callie Keizer each had 14 assists and Wierda had 17 digs.

Hamilton 3, Allendale 1

The Hawkeyes won their final match in the OK Blue Conference Tournament on Tuesday with a 30-28, 25-12, 21-25, 25-12 win over Allendale.

Kaitlyn Geurink had 15 kills, 13 digs and seven blocks.

Emma O'Connor had 16 kills and two blocks. Joelle Boeskool had 43 assists, 18 digs and five kills.
