HUDSON — Hudson softball coach Amy Hill has stepped down after 13 seasons and nearly 250 victories.

Hill began her first stint at Hudson in 2001, leading the Tigers to an 18-18 season. In 2004 Hudson won 27 games and a district title. She took a break from coaching when her children were young, then returned in 2015.

The 2019 Hudson team was her finest, going 31-12, winning district and regional championships and setting the school’s single season record for victories. She was named The Daily Telegram’s Coach of the Year that season.

Hudson was 20-17 in 2022 and 30-9 this past season.

“We sure had fun and made some great memories over the years,” Hill said.

Hill, who grew up in Homer, has taught at Hudson for more than 20 years. The Western Michigan University grad coached her daughters Lexi, who graduated in 2019, and Lauren, who graduated this year.

Softball has been part of Hill's life for a long time.

“My dad played men’s fast pitch softball and was a pitcher,” Hill said. “I pitched and both my daughters did also. I guess you could say it’s in the genes. I’m thankful I had the opportunity to coach them both.”

Her record at Hudson was 248-191-1 with three district titles.
