HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Upper Cape girls basketball keeps rolling with 14th straight win

The Upper Cape girls basketball continued their hot streak with their 14th straight win as they beat Bristol Plymouth 52-17 on Monday. Adryanna Turner led the way with a game-high of 26 points, and Alaina Hines contributed 19 more points for the Rams.

Girls Basketball

Martha’s Vineyard 35, Monomoy 33: The Vineyarders (4-15) snapped a nine-game losing streak as they beat the Sharks (9-9). Piper Blau had 12 points and nine rebounds, while Ava Townes added eight points for Martha's Vineyard. Tatiana Malone led Monomoy with a season-high of 16 points.

St. John Paul II 45, Cape Cod Academy 13: The Lions (14-5) have won three of their last four with the victory over the Seahawks (6-11). Devin Crofford (15 points), Marlo Jumper (14 points), and Michaela Enright (seven points) led the way for JPII.

Sandwich 54, East Bridgewater 52 (OT): The Lady Knights (16-1) won their fifth straight in overtime. Junior Maddie Lawrence led the way with a double double of 34 points and 13 rebounds, while junior Avery Cobban chipped in 13 points and six rebounds for Sandwich.

Bourne 50, West Bridgewater 28: The Canalmen (15-1) won their second straight South Coast Conference Gold Division title. Paige Meda had 23 points, McKinley Wenzel added 12 points, and Jill Allen chipped in five points for Bourne.

Falmouth 37, Hanover 32 (OT): The Clippers (12-6) have won five of their last six. Teagan Lind finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Jazz Fernandez added 11 points for Falmouth. Hailey Lynch scored seven points, while Layla Clunes controlled the glass with 13 rebounds.

Old Colony 29, Sturgis West 22: The Navigators (6-9) snapped a three-game win streak.

Boys Basketball

Monomoy 77, Martha's Vineyard 61: The Sharks (13-4) won their third straight as they were hot from behind the arc with 14 three-pointers. Jackson Rocco scored 29 points, while Tamarr Washington followed up with 27 points for Monomoy. Josh Lake dropped 20 points, while Nate Story finished with 16 points and Kaio DaCosta added eight points for Martha's Vineyard (13-5).

Barnstable 65, O’Bryant 48: The Red Hawks (13-4) have won five in a row and eight of their last nine.

Falmouth Academy 50, Bristol Aggie 19: The Mariners (11-6) have won seven in a row, and six of those victories were by double digits.

Old Colony 71, Sturgis West 40: The Navigators (6-10) came up short on the road.

Girls Hockey

Sandwich 8, Nantucket 2: The Lady Knights (7-9-2) have won two of their last three games as they beat the Whalers (0-14). Marley Dwyer led the way with one goal and two assists, while Ainsley Hopwood scored twice and Darby Rounseville added a goal and an assist for Sandwich. Emma Itri, Julia O'Neil, Casey Pestilli, and Maddy Butler each scored a goal, while Riley Thomas, Elisabeth Stutzman and Khloe Schultz each dished out one assist.

Canton 2, Falmouth 0: The Clippers (16-2-1) suffered their first road loss of the season.

Pope Francis Prep 4, Nauset 2: The Warriors (15-2-1) lost their first game since Dec. 13 on Sunday.

Boys Hockey

Nantucket 5, Monomoy/Mashpee 0: The Whalers (15-1) have been unstoppable as they have won 15 games in a row with a shutout win over the Sharks (3-10-2) on Sunday.

Wrestling

Division 3 South Sectional Tournament: The Sandwich Blue Knights wrestling team secured six medals, as captain Luke Steele led the way with the championship at 190 lbs on Saturday. Steele pinned his first three opponents in the early rounds before a rematch, from the Bob Gay Invitational Championship in January, against Marco Yerardi of Foxboro in the finals. Steele (36-2) won decision and will advance to the Division 3 State Tournament.

Junior captain Oakley Gully returned from injury and secured two victories by pin, which led him to the 215-pound semi-final match against Michael Brennan. He won the consolation semi-finals and earned fourth place to advance to states.

Sophomore Liam Hallett (126 pounds), freshman Jack Steele (132 pounds), junior Will Fitzgerald-Klemp (157 pounds) and sophomore Kaike Pereira (165 pounds) each received fifth-place medals, and each will serve as alternates in their respective weight classes at the state tournament. Eighth-grader AJ Davison added two wins for the Blue Knights.

Peter Silvernail, Jack Peno, and Ashton Lutz all will advance to states for Nauset.

Gymnastics

The co-op team of Falmouth-Mashpee-Barnstable competed in the Cranberry League Meet.
