HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Nauset/Monomoy girls hockey makes history in 9th straight win

The Nauset/Monomoy girls hockey team made history as they defeated Sandwich 1-0 for the first time in program history for their ninth straight win on Wednesday. The winner came off the stick of Gabby Bassett on a power play, while Olivia Avellar had 21 saves in the shutout for Nauset (10-1). Sandwich (4-5-1) has hit a slide after a 4-0-1 start with its fifth straight loss.

Girls Hockey

Falmouth 8, Martha’s Vineyard 2: The Clippers (10-1) remained hot with their seventh straight victory. Casey Roth had a hat trick, while Riley Devlin added two goals for Falmouth. Martha's Vineyard falls to 7-3.

Barnstable 11, Nantucket 1: The Red Hawks (4-5) had 12 different players score a point on Teachers Appreciation Night as they beat the Whalers (0-7). Penny Baroni, Julie Noreau, and Leah Bertling each scored two goals, while Avery Braley had a hat trick of assists. Ally McEneaney (100th point) and Grace Holden each had a goal and two assists, and Cate Buckler chipped in one goal and one assist. Ryley King and Claire Hazard each found the back of the net, and Emma Dasilva, Katherine Wing (first point) and Marnine Sonnebend (first point) each dished out on assist.

Boys Hockey

Nantucket 6, Monomoy/Mashpee 4: Colby O'Keefe finished with a hat trick as the Whalers (8-1) won their eighth straight game. Nico Tedeschi, Braden Knapp and Ryan Davis also chipped in a goal for Nantucket. Max Cronen, Luke Raftery and Casey Huse each scored a goal for the Sharks (1-6-2).

Apponequet 4, Bourne 2: Cole Thomas and Griffin Kelly each scored for the Canalmen (7-3-1). Jake Roux, Dana Leach, and Joziah DeSouza each dished out an assist for Bourne.

Falmouth 4, Sandwich 1: Jack Frostholm, Matthew Tribou (first varsity), Travis Smith, Charlie Bardelis each scored a goal for the Clippers (6-6), while Eddie Leary played well in net. Nicholas Buckland scored the lone goal with an assist from Devin Mahoney for the Blue Knights (10-2), who lost their first game in over a month (Dec. 9).

Tri-County Reg. 4, Upper Cape 2: The Rams (3-7) lost their second road game of the season. Sophomore goaltender Charlie Carroll had a 56-save performance, while senior Ty Rebeiro scored both goals for Upper Cape.

Girls Basketball

Dennis-Yarmouth 33, Falmouth 29: The Dolphins (6-2) won their third straight, while the Clippers (6-4) snapped a four game win streak. Chloe Azoff scored 15 points, while Jaylene Pires (10 points) and Siena Lauze (8) also contributed for D-Y.

Wrestling

Sandwich 53, Rockland 27: Bryce Blake, Jack Steele, William Fitzgerald-Klemp, John Mozeleski, Bradley McDonald all picked up pinfall victories. Luke Steele had a tech fall, while Henry Rockwell, Liam Hallett and Henry Murphy were also winners on the night.

Swimming and Diving

Sandwich 83, Rockland 56: For the boys, Dawson Milligan broke the school record for the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:47:10, which qualified for the Division 2 Sates (D2ST). He also was on the was on the winning 200 Yard Medley Relay team (qualified for South Sectionals).

Ryan Milligan took first in the 200-Yard IM (2:10.86, D2ST), the 100-Yard Backstroke (56.49, D2ST), and was on the winning 200 Yard Medley Relay team.

Tyler Lippincott finished first in the 50-Yard Freestyle (24.88), and was on the winning 200-Yard Medley Relay and 200 yard Freestyle Relay teams.

Samuel McIlvin won the 500-Yard Freestyle (5:54.74), and was apart of the winning 200-yard Freestyle Relay team.

Donovan Kelly won the 100-Yard freestyle, and was apart of the winning 200-yard Freestyle Relay team.

For the girls, Emma Jakubicka won the 200-Yard IM (2:34.52), the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:08.18), and was apart of the winning 200-Yard Medley Relay and the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay teams.

Mia Giargiari came in first place in the 100-Yard Freestyle (1:05.53), and was apart of the winning 200-Yard Medley Relay and the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay teams.

Lexi Eastman won the 200-Yard Freestyle (2:23.64), and was apart of the winning 200-Yard Medley Relay and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay teams.

Meghan Jakubicka placed first in the 50-Yard Freestyle (29.15), and was apart of the winning 200-Yard Medley Relay and the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay teams.

Madelynn Keyes won the 1 mtr Diving with a score of 220.30 (D2ST).
