HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Nantucket girls lacrosse wins 18th straight game to remain unbeaten

The Nantucket girls lacrosse team continued their unbeaten season with their 18th straight win as they beat Bridgewater-Raynham 17-7 on Wednesday. Bailey Lower (eight goals, five assists 12 draw controls), Emerson Pekarcik (five goals, two assists), Mayson Lower (three goals), Cydney Mosscrop (one goal, three assists) led the offense, while Claire Misurelli had five saves in goal for Nantucket (18-0).

Girls Lacrosse

Mashpee 14, Bourne 4: Ciara Hendricks finished with six goals and one assist, while Sophia Morin added four goals and two assists for the Falcons' (6-11) win over the Lady Canalmen (4-14). Amari Mills (one goal), Ari Andrade (three goals), and Sky Hickey (one assist) also chipped in on offense, while Riley Thomas had 12 saves in goal for Mashpee.

Girls Tennis

Monomoy 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Sharks (13-4) have won nine straight matches as they swept the Dolphins (0-17). Tatiana Malone beat Olivia Boyer in first singles (6-0, 6-0), Lilly Gould defeated Kelsang Gurung in second singles (6-3, 6-1), and Hanadi Rezk won third singles (6-4, 6-2) over Tristin Bradford for Monomoy.

Karina Khalsa and Darcy Addison defeated Willania Thompson and Maddy Burgess in first doubles (6-0, 6-0), while Sophia Sarabia and Cece Hand beat Maddy Stewart and Aimee Teague in second doubles (6-3, 6-0).

Wareham 3, Bourne 2: McKinley Wenzel beat Julia Mcduffy in second singles (6-4, 6-2), while Ainsley Hopwood and Zoe Noonan beat Juliana Statkus and Yvonee Pina-Monteiro for the Lady Canalmen (8-9).

Falmouth 5, Bridgewater-Raynham 0: The Clippers (9-9) finished the regular season on a five-match win streak. Geneveive Maranchie beat Cily Mitchell in first singles (6-3, 6-3), Maia Ledwell won second singles (6-0, 6-0) over Megan McInnis, and Jaylynn Fernandez defeated Bella Nelson in third singles (6-4, 6-1) for Falmouth.

Alexis Christian and Marcella DePaula beat Lily Cooley and Tamia McQueen in first doubles (6-4, 2-6, 10-6), while Sadie Inman and Phoebe defeated Chloe Nichols and Caroline Stull in second doubles (6-2, 6-2).

Mashpee 3, Sturgis East 2: The Falcons finished the season 12-8 with a win over Sturgis East (2-9). Mariele Henley won first singles (6-2, 6-1) over Keegan Endres, Esme Milde beat Sydney Faranetta in third singles (6-3, 6-4), and Emily Doolan and Grace Dion defeated Diana Richards and Lainey Lowenstein in second doubles (6-3, 6-3) for Mashpee.

East Bridgewater 3, Sandwich 2: The Lady Knights ended their season 4-14.

St. John Paul II 5, Barnstable 0: The Lions finished the regular season undefeated at 20-0 as they swept the Red Hawks (3-12).

Boys Tennis

Monomoy 4, Dennis-Yarmouth 1: The Sharks (11-6) have won six of their last seven matches they beat the Dolphins (4-14). Ryan Casey beat Osacr Turek in first singles (6-0, 6-0), while Gavin McDonnell won second singles (6-1, 6-0) over Max Mingo for Monomoy. Connor Francis and Ethan Seufert defeated Collin Caron and Landon Richter in first doubles (6-4, 7-6 (10-8)), while Liam Jordan and Blake Noonan beat Aiden Karras and Sean Walsh in second doubles (6-0, 6-0).

Falmouth 4, Bridgewater-Raynham 1: The Clippers ended their regular season 8-10. Jack Beardsley beat Thomas Hammond in second singles (6-1, 6-3), while Jeffrey Howe defeated Zach Foley in third singles (6-3, 6-4) for Falmouth. Sam Collins and Jacob Faidell beat Wyatt Cooley and Andrew Wagner in first doubles (6-0, 6-0), while Henry Stoermer and Joe Ledwick defeated Andrew Martin and Ayan Patel in second doubles (6-0, 6-1).

Nantucket 4, Barnstable 1: The Whalers (7-9) snapped the Red Hawks (14-5) five match win streak.

Sturgis 5, Mashpee 0: Sturgis (9-1) ended their regular season on a five-match win streak as they swept the Falcons (10-6). Ray Zhang beat Colin Burdge in first singles (5-7, 6-3, 6-0), Francisco Garcia Raya defeated James Benners in second singles (6-0, 6-4), and Colby Hall won third singles (6-0, 6-0) over Jimmy Dean for Sturgis.

Robert Muhov and Thomas Nutbrown beat Andrew Kelley and Camden Perry in first doubles (6-4, 7-5), while George Foster and Kienan Murphy defeated Jack Foley and Jesse Dean.

Bourne 5, Wareham 0: The Canalmen (5-12) snapped a five-match slide with a sweep win on the road.

Boys Lacrosse

Sandwich 17, Barnstable 6: Cole Rodgers scored eight goals and added one assist, while Dan Oman had three goals and four assists that led the Blue Knights (14-3).

Harry Delman (two goals, one assist), Avery Richardson (one goal, three assists), Jack Connolly (one goal), Michael Chetwynd (one goal), Sullivan Gaffney 9two assists), Reece MacKinnon (12 face-off wins) and Than Hunt (five face-off wins) also contributed on offense for Sandwich.Shane Corcoran had 13 saves in goal and added a goal, while Tate Baeker and Rodgers also played well defensively.

Bourne 13, Mashpee 6: The Canalmen (12-6) have won four of their last five games as they beat the Falcons (5-13). Ryan Haden (three goals, one assist), Brett Lucier (two goals, one assist), Brody Haden on his return from injury (two goals), Sean Kelley (one goal, one assist), Drew Kelley (one goal, two assists), Ty Hawkes (one assist) all contributed on offense, while Max Beals had 18 saves in goal for Bourne.

Blue Hills 22, Cape Tech 5: The Crusaders finished the season 1-17.

North Attleboro 16, Martha’s Vineyard 5: The Vineyarders fall to 3-11 on the season.

Softball

Dennis-Yarmouth 15, Sturgis 3: The Dolphis (8-11) have won back-to-back games as they beat Sturgis (6-10). Alexa Barboza, the only senior on D-Y, went 3-for-3 (two runs, one RBI, one walk) on Senior Night.

Savannah Azoff (one double, two RBIs, two walks) and Alexa Buron (one triple, two RBIs) each collected two hits, while Brooke Chicoine had three RBIs and two runs, and Lily Leandre and Grace Smith each had two RBIs, and one scored run. On the mound, Azoff pitched five innings, scattered three hits, allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out eight.

Bristol Plymouth 9, Falmouth 5: Rylin Briggs pitched a complete game, scattering six hits and striking out six, and finished 4-for-4, (one double three RBIs) for the Clippers (11-7). Kaylee Shaw was 3-for 4 (three runs), while Christina Femino (one run, two RBIs) and Molly Belfiore went 2-for-4 for Falmouth.

Cape Tech 28, Martha’s Vineyard 11: Amberlis Hildago hit for the cycle (single, double, triple, home run) as she finished with four hits and four RBIs for the Crusaders (4-13) as they beat the Vineyarders (6-10-1). Avilia Mitchell hit a home run and a double, while Laura Feliz de Jesus had five hits for Cape Tech.

Rising Tide 18, Mashpee 8: Tess Provencher (two RBIs, one scored run) and Kiri Sawyer (one RBI, one run) each had two hits for the Falcons (0-15).

Barnstable 29, Nantucket 21: Annabella DiGiacomo led the way with two doubles, two singles and one scored run for the Red Hawks (4-14) win over the Whalers (8-8). Kaylee Koch (two singles, six runs), Juliana Nordone (two singles, four runs), and Sara Ormston (one double, one single, six runs) also contributed for Barnstable.

Norfolk Aggie 17, Upper Cape 3: The Rams (8-9) lost on their home field. The offense was led by Madi Palmer who went 3-for-3 , Jaelynn Harraden scored a run, and Taysia Lopes also scored a run and had four strikeouts on the mound for Upper Cape.

East Bridgewater 16, Sandwich 2: The Lady Knights ended their regular season 2-16.

Wareham 21, St. John Paul II 1: The Lions dropped to 1-18.

Baseball

Sandwich 3, East Bridgewater 1: The Blue Knights (11-6) recorded their third straight win behind Joe Coughlan, who pitched a complete game, scattered four hits, allowed no earned runs and struck out eight. James Lehane had a two-RBI in the third inning, Jack Mulcahy had one hit and one RBI, and five other Blue Knights each collected a hit for Sandwich.

Martha’s Vineyard 5, Monomoy 3: The Vineyarders (5-12) picked up the win over the Sharks (10-9).

West Bridgewater 8, Bourne 7: Luca Finton pitched five innings, struck out 11, allowed five earned runs, and went 3-for-3 with a single, double and home run for the Canalmen (3-15).

Falmouth 8, Old Rochester 2: The Clippers (9-10) are getting hot at the right time as they have won four of their last five games. Eathen Vecchione (two RBIs) and Tre'chaun Days (two RBIs, one run) each had two hits for Falmouth. Brett Summers pitched a complete game, scattered seven hits, allowed two runs, walked one, and struck out two.

Cape Tech 12, Sturgis 8: The Crusaders (12-7) have won seven of their last eight games. Trevor Ryone pitched five innings, struck out six, scattered four hits, and gave up three earned runs for Cape Tech. Jack Rhodes (four hits, three RBIs, four runs scored), Jake Ambrosini (two hits, three RBIs, two runs), Aidan Choukri (two hits, two RBIs), Eric Emond (two hits, two RBIs), and Ryone (two hits, two RBIs, two runs) led Cape Tech.
