HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Martha's Vineyard boys basketball trio helps them remain unbeaten

In a boys basketball battle between the two Cape Cod Islands teams, Martha's Vineyard beat Nantucket 58-47 on Sunday to remain unbeaten at 3-0. The trio of Josh Lake (19 points, nine rebounds), Nate Story (17 points) and Sam Zack (16 points) led the Vineyarders in the win. Freshman Landon Lepine had the biggest challenge on defense against Jack Halik (10 points) of the Whalers and played well. Chris Simpson and Amare Bramwell each scored eight points for Nantucket (1-2).

Boys Basketball

Cape Tech 78, Sturgis East 34: The Crusaders (1-1) picked up their first win of the season as they beat the Storm (0-3).

Girls Basketball

Cape Tech 28, Sturgis East 24: The Crusaders (1-1) won their first game of the season as they defeated the Storm (1-2). Julianna Santana led the way on both sides of the ball with seven points, nine rebounds, five assists and six steals for Cape Tech. Caelyn Parris had 10 points and seven steals, while captain Sabrin Marchoud and Gianna Lubash had 10 rebounds each. Noriann Wray led Sturgis East with 10 points, and Siobhan Mahoney added seven points.

Boys Hockey

Old Rochester/Fairhaven 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 1: Tanner Chicoine scored the lone goal with an assist from Ben Catalano for the Dolphins (0-3).

Tri-County 4, Upper Cape 1: Freshman Brayden Brennan scored his first career varsity goal, but the Rams (0-1) fell short in their season opener on Sunday.
