HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Maddie Lawrence hits game-winner for Sandwich girls basketball

Junior Maddie Lawrence hit a reverse layup in the closing seconds of the Sandwich Holiday Classic Championship Game to give the Sandwich girls basketball team a 45-44 win over Duxbury. The layup was good for two of her team high 17 points, to go along with 11 rebounds, and seven blocks. The Blue Knights also had both Avery Cobban (14), and Aubrie Schwager (11) finish in double figures, with both also adding six rebounds and five steals. The win extends Sandwich's win streak to begin the season. The Blue Knights are now 6-0.

Girls Basketball

Bourne 60, Martha's Vineyard 24: The Lady Canalmen remain undefeated to start the season, and improve to 4-0 after beating the Vineyarders (2-5). Paige Meda had a team-high 23, Mckinley Wenzel had 11, and Raeghan Blake had seven.

Dover-Sherborn 57, Dennis-Yarmouth 33: The Dolphins record is now 3-2.

Falmouth 45, Canton 30: Teagan Lind led the Clippers (3-3 ) with 18 points as they got back to .500 this season. Hailey Lynch dropped nine, and Layla Clunes had eight.

Boys Basketball

Martha's Vineyard 66, Dover-Sherborn 55: The Vineyarders improve to 4-2 behind 20 points from Sam Zack. Josh Lake had 16 points and seven rebounds, Nate Story added 12 points to go along with four steals. Tysean Thomas finished the night with five points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.

Monomoy 62, Cohasset 49: Jackson Rocco's 28 points (six threes) helped the Sharks (3-1) to their third win of the season. Jackson Morneau had 11 points and seven rebounds, while Tamarr Washington contributed 12 points for Monomoy.

Bourne 68, Bellingham 50: Nate Reynolds led the way with 18 points as the Canalmen continued their undefeated start to season, improving to 5-0 and winning the Coach Hutch Tournament. Leo Andrade was awarded Tournament MVP after his performances across the tournament, and finished with 16 points. Mike Dankert added 14, and Dom Quelle also finished in double figures, with ten. Reynolds, and Dankert, were named All Stars for the Tournament.

Nantucket 60, Worcester South 56: The Whalers (4-2) won the Millford Holiday TOurnament, behind Jack Halik, who was named Tournament MVP. Carlos Aguilar was also a Tournament All Star for Nantucket.

Foxboro 60, Barnstable 43: Evan Briggs had a team high 12 points to lead the Red Hawks (5-2) in the loss. Gabe Pichardo also chipped in ten points.

Duxbury 61, Sandwich 52: The Blue Knights fall to 2-3.

Boys Hockey

Medway 4, St. John Paul II 2: Braden Shortt and Brady Meyer both scored for the Lions fall to 2-4.
