High school roundup: Colton-Pierrepont advances in overtime in Section 10 quarterfinals

Feb. 14—DEKALB JUNCTION — Eric Friedel scored seven points in overtime as Colton-Pierrepoint's boys basketball team turned back Hermon-DeKalb, 57-54, on Wednesday night in a Section 10 Class D quarterfinal.

Friedel finished with 21 points and Nate Smith dropped in 19 points for the fifth-seeded Colts.

Michael Maurer scored 18 points — all on 3-pointers — to pace the fourth-seeded Demons. Noah Locy added 16 points for Hermon-DeKalb and Hunter Bouchey contributed 15 points.

Colton-Pierrepont advances to play top-seeded Harrisville in a semifinal at 7:45 p.m. on Monday at SUNY Potsdam.

MORRISTOWN 91, ST. REGIS FALLS 78

Four players scored at least 16 points to pace the third-seeded Green Rockets past the sixth-seeded Saints to win a Section 10 Class D quarterfinal in Morristown.

Terin Rosenbarker tallied 23 points to spark Morristown, Joe Wrobel and Walker Belisle generated 22 and 18 points, respectively for the Green Rockets, and Kam Toland added 16 points, including connecting on three 3-pointers.

Peter Arcadi scored a game-high 37 points to lead St. Regis Falls and Landon Cox and Reid Mulverhill each netted three 3-pointers, scoring 19 and 11 points, respectively.

Morristown advances to play second-seeded Chateaugay in a semifinal at 6 p.m. on Monday at SUNY Potsdam.

CHATEAUGAY 52, EDWARDS-KNOX 27

The second-seeded Bulldogs defeated the seventh-seeded Cougars to prevail in a Section 10 Class D quarterfinal in Chateaugay.

BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 60, LAFARGEVILLE 50

Brandon Dodge scored 20 points to pace the Panthers past the Red Knights to win a nonleague game in Belleville.

Peyton Bellinger contributed 13 points and Zion John chipped in with seven points for Belleville Henderson (11-9) against LaFargeville (12-8).

UTICA ACADEMY OF SCIENCE 76, CARTHAGE 63

Akol Machteng connected for 23 points and Doneilius King Jr. scored 22 in the Utica Academy of Science's victory over Carthage in a nonleague game in Carthage.

Jazier Brown added 18 points for the Atoms (5-15).

Makiah Johnson led the Comets (12-8) offensively with 23 points. Geremiah Ademola-Sadipe and Kalel Tevaga each scored 12 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

POTSDAM 56, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 45

Jasmine McKnight scored a game-high 28 points to pace the third-seeded Sandstoners past the sixth-seeded Flyers to prevail in a Section 10 Class B play-in game in Potsdam.

Katie Todd contributed 16 points for Potsdam.

Olivia Plonka generated 23 points to lead Norwood-Norfolk.

OFA 37, SALMON RIVER 35

Amaya LaFlair scored six of her game-high 20 points in a key 11-4 run in the second quarter as the fourth-seeded Blue Devils turned back the fifth-seeded Shamrocks to win a Section 10 Class B play-in game at Ogdensburg Free Academy.

LaFlair went 5-6 at the foul line and complemented her scoring with four assists and three rebounds and Carlee Thompson contributed six points and 10 rebounds.

Tara Ransom led Salmon River with 18 points and Kaidance Sunday dropped in 11 points.

SACKETS HARBOR 60, SANDY CREEK 45

Peyton Britton unloaded for 33 points and added five rebounds, five assists and six steals in the Patriots' nonleague victory over the Comets in Sandy Creek.

Lily Green added 14 points and seven rebounds for Sackets Harbor, and Emily Curley scored 11 points.

LAFARGEVILLE 73, BRUSHTON-MOIRA 27

Emeline Barton struck for 35 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists as the Red Knights defeated the Panthers in a nonleague game in Brushton.

Margie Barton contributed nine points and five steals for LaFargeville (16-4) and Chloe Gafford added 13 rebounds.

Kyla Phelan paced Brushton-Moira with 10 points.

The Golden Bears edged the Red Raiders to win a Northern Athletic Conference game played in Massena.

Also in NAC play, Salmon River edged St. Lawrence Central, 3-2, in overtime, and Norwood-Norfolk defeated Potsdam, 7-5.
