HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Casey Roth reaches 100th career point in Falmouth playoff win

The Falmouth girls hockey team is the highest-seeded girls team (No. 2 in Division 2) on Cape Cod and showed why in their first playoff game on Wednesday. The Clippers (20-2-1) won their fourth straight as they beat No. 31 Newburyport 10-2 in the Round of 32 at Falmouth Ice Arena. Casey Roth recorded a hat trick and dished out two assists for her 100th career point.

Girls Hockey

Div. 2, Round of 32: No. 4 Nauset/Monomoy 6, No. 29 Dennis-Yarmouth/Cape Cod Academy/St. John Paul II 1: The Warriors (18-2-1) won their first playoff game as they beat the Dolphins (5-14-1). Julia Kipperman scored a goal and dished out three assists, while Sophia Boucher scored twice and had one assist and Gaby Bassett added a goal and one assist for Nauset/Monomoy. Sienna Reeves and Carly Brand each found the back of the net, while Violet Yingling chipped in a helper.

Div. 2, Round of 32: No. 13 Sandwich 5, No. 20 Stoneham 1: The Lady Knights (11-10-2) started their postseason off with a home victory. Darby Rounseville scored twice, while Khloe Schultz added a goal and one assist for Sandwich. Marley Dwyer and Elisabeth Stutzman each found the back of the net, while Casey Pestilli added two assists, and Adrianna Kelsch and Ainsley Hopwood each contributed a helper.

Div. 1, Round of 32: No. 4 Malden Catholic 2, No. 29 Barnstable 1 (OT): The Red Hawks almost pulled of an upset but gave up a late goal in regulation that forced overtime. Goalie Meli Raspante played well in net for Barnstable (6-14-1).

Boys Hockey

Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 1 Nauset 6, No. 33 Diman RVT 0: The Warriors (19-1-1) won their 16th straight game in their first playoff game. Logan Poulin had a hat trick and an assist, Jake Eldredge scored twice, and Colin Ward added a goal for Nauset.

Div. 4, Round of 32: No. 15 Bourne 4, No. 18 Abington 2: The Canalmen (14-6-1) started their playoff run with a third-period comeback after they trailed 2-1. Ty Kelley (one assist), Joziah DeSouza, James Crowell, and Caleb Kean each scored a goal for Bourne. Dom Bonito added an assist, and Jackson Palmborg played well in net.

Girls Basketball

Div. 4, Prelims: No. 33 Lynn Vo-Tech 67, No. 32 Upper Cape 52: The Rams (16-5) finished their season in the Preliminary Round. Alaina Hines led the way with 22 points, while Hayley King added 16 points for Upper Cape.
