HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Bourne girls volleyball wins 11th straight to stay undefeated

The Bourne girls volleyball team stayed undefeated after beating Case in five sets (17-25, 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 20-18). In the fifth set, Bourne found itself down 11-7, but managed to turn it around to secure the victory and improve to 11-0. Nola Timo had a career high 22 kills, and also added 18 digs, and five aces. Elena Timo and Sofia Halunen combined for 40 assists and also chipped in nine digs. Lily Russell had 31 digs to lead the defensive efforts, and Mayla Muldoon finished the night with nine kills and had 18 digs.

Girls Volleyball

Nantucket 3, Falmouth 1: Chloe Marrero had 23 kills to lead the Whalers (6-3) past the Clippers (5-6) in four sets (21-25, 25-13, 27-25, 25-11). Alice O’Banion also added 10 kills in the win. Christina Femino had 22 assists for the Clippers, and Azaria Viall had 16 digs. Erin Barr had a team high eight kills for Falmouth.

Barnstable 3, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: Sadie Wellbeloved had 40 assists to lead the Red Hawks (9-2) to the sweep (27-25, 25-10, 25-20) over the Dolphins (7-5). Molly Gleason had a double double with 12 kills and 11 digs, Charlotte Sullivan had 11 kills to go with five aces and two blocks, and Molly Fredo had nine kills and three digs. Mariah Eaton had a team high seven kills for the Dolphins, and Ellen Swanson had 16 digs.

Nauset 3, Rising Tide 0: The Warriors improve to 3-8 following the win.

Cape Tech 3, Old Colony 0: The Crusaders improve to 9-2 with the sweep.

Sturgis West 3, Monomoy 0: The Navigators record is now 6-2, while Monomoy drops to 1-8.

Boys Soccer

Case 2, Bourne 0: Nathan Reynolds made seven saves, and both Leo Andrade and Mike Dankert played well in midfield for the Canalmen (1-7-2).

Girls Soccer

St. John Paul II 5, Falmouth Academy 1: Addison Cheney had a hat trick for the Lions (5-2-1) as they beat the Mariners (3-5). Her three goals brings her goal tally to 17 on the season. Ella Cheney and Raegan Dillon also scored, and had an assist for the Lions, helping them win their fourth straight game. Kayla Katziff, Winnie Hatch, and Marlo Jumper also recorded assists.

Bourne 4, Case 0: Sienna Silvia scored a brace (two goals), while Taylor Simard and Claire Koosa each scored a goal for the Canalmen (6-4-1). Paige Meda dished out two assists, and Zoe Ridl added another.

Boys Golf

St. John Paul II 179, Falmouth 141: The Lions improve to 13-0 behind a one under par 35 from Sam Scioletti, Timmy Adams shot a 37, and both Jack Carstensen and Matt Curley shot a 40 to round out the three lowest scores. Declan Norris shot a 38 to lead the Clippers (3-7), while Sean Souza (40), and Gavin Powderly (42) also played well.

Cohasset 95, Mashpee 64: Liam Hansford had the lowest score of the match for the Falcons (0-10), shooting a 45, and earning 17 Stableford points for his team. James Benners shot a 49, and earned 13 points.

Upper Cape 8.5, Bristol Plymouth .5: Matt Nawoichik's even par 36 led the Rams (10-3) to the win. Zephyn Johnson and Tyler Kutil both shot 40s and Nolan Roche ended the day with a 42.

Monomoy 239, Sturgis East 301: Jackson Rocco shot a 35 to pace the Sharks (8-3) past the Storm (0-10). Casey Huse finished the day with a 37, and Hank Brown shot a 40 to round out the top three. Ryan Weisner shot a 45 for Sturgis East.

Bourne 8.5, Westport .5: Ryan Burgess was the medalist as Bourne (8-3) got the win at Acoaxet.

Field Hockey

Monomoy 2, Nantucket 1: The Sharks are now 7-0-2 after beating the Whalers (4-4-2).

Cohasset 9, Mashpee 0: Ayesha Shafi made 20 saves in the loss for the Falcons (2-8).

Barnstable 8, Nauset 0: Meili Raspante had the shutout in goal helping the Red Hawks (8-2-1) to the win over the Warriors (3-6-2). Alexa Garthee scored twice, Ally McEneaney and Chloe Egan added a goal and an assist apiece. The Red Hawks also got goals from Sophie Anderson, Penny Baroni, Shelby Locascio and Megan Garthee.

Falmouth 4, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: Falmouth improves to 6-2-1 after beating D-Y (4-4-2).
