High school roundup: Bombard strikes for 40 as Immaculate Heart tops Lowville in girls basketball

Jan. 30—WATERTOWN — Abigail Bombard unloaded for 40 points to power Immaculate Heart Central to a 59-54 Frontier League "A-B" Division girls basketball victory against Lowville at IHC.

Bombard added 10 rebounds and six assists for the Cavaliers (8-10 overall, 5-7 league).

Bria Larrabee contributed 10 points and 15 rebounds for IHC.

SOUTH JEFFERSON 61, CARTHAGE 41

Katelyn Whitley and Savannah Hodges scored 18 points apiece to power the Spartans over the Comets in an "A-B" Division game in Carthage.

Brooke Perry contributed 14 points for South Jefferson (9-6, 6-5).

Erin Bracy scored 16 to lead Carthage (3-13, 1-11). Erica Hall followed with nine points.

EDWARDS-KNOX 57, LISBON 55

Camryn Huckle hit five 3-point shots en route to 27 points to fuel the Cougars to a Northern Athletic Conference West Division win against the Golden Knights in Lisbon.

Lily Lottie added 18 points for Edwards-Knox (8-6, 5-1).

Allison Bell connected for 24 points for Lisbon (9-7, 2-5) and Leah Warren added 17 points.

HEUVELTON 66, HARRISVILLE 41

Senior Rylin McAllister scored 28 points on the Bulldogs' senior night as Heuvelton defeated Harrisville in a West Division game at Heuvelton.

Lily Brossoit added 12 points and Cassidy Pray scored nine for the Bulldogs (12-4, 4-2).

Violet Atkinson scored 14 points and Isabel Miller 11 for the Pirates (6-9, 0-7).

COLTON-PIERREPONT 35, BRUSHTON-MOIRA 27

Morgan Cole finished with eight points to lead the Colts (5-10, 4-5) in a Northern Athletic Conference East Division game in Colton.

Kyla Phelan scored nine points for the Panthers (5-9, 2-5).

PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 38, ST. REGIS FALLS 26

Emma Phippen put up 13 points and Bailey Warren added 11 points to carry the Panthers (2-10, 2-6) over the Saints in an East Division game in Parishville.

Olivia Wilson paced the Saints (1-9, 0-7) with 16 points, including four 3-point shots.

SACKETS HARBOR 70, LAFARGEVILLE 53

Marcus Castine poured in 26 points and Austin Griner followed with 22 as Sackets Harbor topped LaFargeville in a Frontier League "D" Division in LaFargeville.

Ethan Tracy added 12 points for the Patriots (15-1, 13-1).

Nate Wyatt paced the Red Knights (10-6, 6-6) with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jeremy Shimel contributed 14 points.

COPENHAGEN 58, LYME 40

Landon Sullivan put up 24 points and nine rebounds in Copenhagen's "D" Division victory against Lyme in Copenhagen.

Samuel Carroll chipped in 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the Golden Knights (11-5, 9-4).

Drew Eassa scored 13 points for the Lakers (2-14, 1-11), and Alex Radley and Ethan O'Brien each scored 10.

BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 41, ALEXANDRIA 30

Brandon Dodge connected for 22 points to pace the Panthers in their "D" Division triumph over the Purple Ghosts in Belleville.

Kayden Gordinier supplied 11 points for Belleville Henderson (9-6, 9-4).

Payton Watson led Alexandria (1-15, 0-12) with 14 points.

BEAVER RIVER 68, THOUSAND ISLANDS 47

Kade Schneider struck for 35 points to lead Beaver River over Thousand Islands in a "C" Division game in Clayton.

Carter Rice added 16 points for the Beavers (6-10, 6-5) and Matthew Knight finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Brendan Handley led Thousand Islands (1-13, 1-8) with nine points.

GENERAL BROWN 67, INDIAN RIVER 63 (2 OT)

General Brown outscored Indian River 10-6 in the second overtime period to prevail for the "A-B" victory in Philadelphia.

The Lions (6-10, 4-5) climbed back from a 34-23 halftime deficit to gain the win.

Mason Rowley delivered 29 points for Indian River (3-12, 0-9). Ariel Raymond added 16.

MALONE 48, OFA 39

Garrett Osborn led the Huskies with 15 points against the Blue Devils in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game in Ogdensburg.

Ethan LaVare added nine points for Malone (11-4, 7-3).

Ian Rose hit a game-high 20 points for OFA (4-11, 4-6). Jack Pike followed with 13 points.

In another Central Division game, Canton kept its unbeaten mark with a 66-42 victory against Gouverneur.

MASSENA 88, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 27

Taylor Mitchell scored 25 points to lead the scoring onslaught in Massena's Central Division win over the Flyers at Norfolk.

Tapeni LaBrake and Colin Patterson each scored 18 points for the Raiders (10-4, 8-2).

Matt Richards scored 14 points for the Flyers (1-17, 1-10).

POTSDAM 112, SALMON RIVER 31

Ian VanWagner scored 36 points as the Sandstoners jumped to a 26-2 first-quarter lead and rolled to the Central win at Fort Covington.

Nick Roda added 12 points and Tanner O'Brien scored 10 for Potsdam (10-5, 8-3).

TUPPER LAKE 67, COLTON-PIERREPONT 52

Mikey Corneau scored 27 points, including seven 3-point shots, as the Lumberjacks beat the Colts in an NAC East Division game in Tupper Lake.

Tyler LaPlante contributed 16 points and Tom Peterson 14 as Tupper Lake (11-3, 9-0) kept its unbeaten mark in the East.

Eric Friedel scored 24 points for Colton-Pierrepont (5-10, 4-5), including six 3-pointers.

UTICA ACADEMY OF SCIENCE 70, LOWVILLE 56

Donelious King Jr. connected for 27 points as the Atoms used a big first quarter en route to the nonleague victory at Lowville.

Jazier Brown added 20 points for the Academy of Science (3-13), which outscored Lowville 27-9 in the first quarter.

Dominic Swiernik and Isaiah Spence each delivered 10 points for the Raiders (7-7).

BOYS HOCKEY

OFA 3, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 1

Lorenzo Rand scored twice and Tyler Jacobs made 29 of his 38 saves in the final two periods as Ogdensburg Free Academy claimed the NAC Division II victory in Norfolk.

Connor Brown added a goal for the Blue Devils.

Brock Cousineau scored for Norwood-Norfolk. Caleb Averill stopped 27 shots in goal.

WRESTLING

INDIAN RIVER 42, WATERTOWN 27

Tomah Gummow highlighted Indian River's Frontier League "A" Division victory with his 100th career win as the Warriors defeated the Cyclones in Philadelphia.

Gummow scored his milestone win at 124 pounds with a pin in 2:52.

Kymah Gummow (108), Kane Lynch (138), Brady Lynch (160) and Edniel Melendez-Aristud (190) each recorded victories by fall for Indian River (9-3, 6-1).

Paul Ortega (145), Aiden Verdi (215) and Logan Wilson (285) won by fall for Watertown (4-15, 0-8).

VOLLEYBALL

SOUTH JEFFERSON 3, WATERTOWN 1

The Spartans (5-7) scored a 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22 interdivision victory over the Cyclones in Watertown.

Anya Taylor supplied 10 kills for Watertown (4-9, 4-7) and Ryanna Sullivan nine. Augusta Boomhower recorded 31 assist and served for 16 points for the Cyclones and Anna Powell had nine. Oliva Urf totaled 49 digs.

SOUTH LEWIS 3, GENERAL BROWN 1

The Falcons (8-9, 6-7) bounced back from a first-set loss and captured the 20-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-21 interdivision victory over the Lions at Dexter.

Addyson Starr supplied 10 assists, 12 service points and six aces for General Brown (6-9, 4-8). Keira Guerriero delivered nine kills. Adyson Kittle served for 12 points. Maura Natali totaled 16 digs.

CARTHAGE 3, SANDY CREEK 2

Carthage (10-6, 9-4) outlasted Sandy Creek 16-25, 25-7, 26-24, 11-25, 15-12 for the interdivision win at Sandy Creek.

Mikayla Glazier accumulated 17 service points, 10 aces, 21 assists and 15 digs for Sandy Creek (7-7, 6-5). Perle Convey added nine kills, 13 points and four aces and Sophia Young contributed seven kills.

BOYS SWIMMING

WATERTOWN 118, INDIAN RIVER 48

Drew Wekar, Bennett Pistner, George Weir and Peter Jennings each won an individual event and swam on two winning relays to lead the Cyclones past the Warriors at Watertown.

Wekar took first in the 100 butterfly, Pistner won the 100 breaststroke, Weir claimed the 50 freestyle and Jennings captured the 100 backstroke for Watertown.

General McKoy won the 200 and 500 freestyle for Indian River.

BOYS BOWLING

INDIAN RIVER 6, CARTHAGE 0

Grayson Richardson scored a three-game 578 to highlight Indian River's win over Carthage in the regular-season finale at Pla-Mor Lanes in Watertown.

Indian River finished with a 4-2 mark, second behind unbeaten Beaver River (6-0). Carthage finished 2-4 in third place ahead of Alexandria (0-6). The Frontier League tournament is Wednesday at Pla-Mor.

GIRLS BOWLING

INDIAN RIVER 4, CARTHAGE 2

Carthage's Danisha Adams rolled a match-high 443 but Indian River gained the victory at Pla-Mor Lanes.

Indian River, Carthage and Alexandria each finished the season 4-2 and shared the regular-season title. The girls Frontier League tournament is Tuesday at Pla-Mor Lanes.
