High school roundup: Belleville Henderson tops Thousand Islands in boys soccer

Sep. 23—CLAYTON — Charles Hyman contributed a goal and an assist as the Belleville Henderson boys soccer team received scoring from four players to beat Thousand Islands 4-1 Friday in a Frontier League crossover game and keep pace in the competitive Frontier League "B" Division.

Lincoln Wood, Kagen Simpson and Kayden Gordinier supplied a goal apiece for the Panthers (5-2, 5-1).

Kash Gordinier and Cayden Randall combined for three saves in goal against Thousand Islands (1-6).

LYME 9, LAFARGEVILLE 2

Jonny LaFontaine scored four goals and added an assist to lead Lyme's scoring binge in a "D" Division victory over LaFargeville in Chaumont.

Alex Radley followed with a goal and three assists and Rayton DeLuca added a goal and an assist for the Lakers (7-1, 6-0). Logan Gregory and Ethan O'Brien contributed a goal each. Evan Froelich made seven saves in goal.

Bradley Smith scored both goals for LaFargeville (3-4).

SACKETS HARBOR 5, BEAVER RIVER 2

Sackets Harbor (4-2-1) posted three goals in the first half en route to the crossover victory against Beaver River in Beaver Falls.

Micah Olmstead and Andrew Chartrand scored for Beaver River (0-6, 0-5).

SOUTH LEWIS 3, ALEXANDRIA 0

Connor Sherwood scored a goal and contributed assists on South Lewis' two other goals as the Falcons defeated the Purple Ghosts in a crossover game in Turin.

Marek Morrison and Shaun McManus also scored for South Lewis (3-6, 3-4). Isaac Edick contributed to the shutout with four saves against Alexandria (1-4-2, 1-4-1).

LOWVILLE 2, CARTHAGE 0

Espen Matuszczak scored a goal and assisted on another score as Lowville blanked Carthage in a Frontier League crossover game in Lowville.

Jayden Bagley scored the second goal for the Red Raiders (6-2, 4-2), who outshot the Comets 8-3. Goalie Isaiah Spence made three saves in the shutout.

Deveraux Watson made six saves for Carthage (4-5-1, 2-4).

LISBON 4, HARRISVILLE 0

The Golden Knights maintained their unbeaten mark with goals from four players en route to the Northern Athletic Conference West Division shutout of the Pirates in Lisbon.

Cooper Rutherford, Ty Jacobs, Landen Ward and Noah Gendebien each scored for Lisbon. Tanner Fonda made two saves in goal.

HEUVELTON 1, E DWARDS-KNOX 1 (OT)

Red Doyle scored for Heuvelton and Kyle Reif tallied for Edwards-Knox during a West Division double-overtime tie in Heuvelton.

Levi Biller assisted on Doyle's goal and Jonnie Friot had an assist on Rief's shot.

Isaac Murdock and Brody Kelly combined for 18 saves for Heuvelton, while Dawson Matthews made seven stops for the Cougars.

MORRISTOWN 1, HERMON-DEKALB 0

Connor Pease delivered the only shot that solved Hermon-DeKalb goalkeeper Hunter Bouchey in the Green Rockets' West Division win in Morristown.

COPENHAGEN 2, OLD FORGE 0

Logan Jordal scored a goal in each half as Copenhagen defeated Old Forge in a nonleague game in Copenhagen.

Kaden Tiberand and Samuel Carroll each assisted on a goal for the Golden Knights (7-2). Ayden Sheitz stopped three shots in goal in the shutout.

GIRLS SOCCER

GOUVERNEUR 6, OFA 1

Renisa Richards led Gouverneur with three goals as the Wildcats defeated the Blue Devils in an NAC Central Division game in Gouverneur.

Chloe Smith added two goals and an assist for Gouverneur. Gracen Hance added a goal and Ameillia Lacks contributed two assists.

Ella Ramsdell scored on a penalty shot for OFA.

LISBON 3, COLTON-PIERREPONT 1

Ava Murphy finished with a goal and an assist in the Golden Knights' victory over the Colts in Lisbon.

Allison Bell and Gabby Richardson also scored for Lisbon.

Tina Planty scored for Colton-Pierrepont.

In other NAC games, Malone defeated Canton 1-0, Massena edged Potsdam 3-2 and Salmon River beat Norwood-Norfolk 4-1.

HAMMOND 4, ALEXANDRIA 2

Landree Kenyon scored a hat trick to give Hammond the 3-0 lead 30 minutes in en route to the nonleague victory over Alexandria (2-7) in Hammond.

Ava Howie assisted on two of the goals and added a goal of her own on an assist from Kenyon. Makia Greene supplied two assists.

VOLLEYBALL

MADRID-WADDINGTON 3, MASSENA 2

Madrid-Waddington came back from two sets down to overtake Massena for the victory in a Northern Athletic Conference match in Massena.

The Yellowjackets prevailed 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-12.

For Massena, Kaniehtentha Thompson supplied 13 kills, nine service points and three blocks. Allison Lazore added 10 kills and six service points. Nylah Tillman served for 11 points and Makenna Cameron nine points. Katelyn Benham served for eight points and added 22 assists.

In other NAC matches, Chateaugay outlasted Gouverneur 3-2 and Clifton-Fine swept Tupper Lake 3-0.

GIRLS TENNIS

LOWVILLE 5, COPENHAGEN 0

Lowville's doubles teams encountered a pair of battles but won both to help the Red Raiders pull off their 10th straight win in tightly contested Frontier League "B" Division match against Copenhagen in Lowville.

Katelynn Baker and Alyvia Millard claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory for Lowville at first doubles. Then Kara Macaulay and Daisy Peters outlasted Copenhagen's Arianna Doyle and Stella Baker 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 at second doubles.

Rubi Zabielowicz, Phoebe Jennings and Anna Dening each won at singles for Lowville (10-0).
