HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Abington boys lacrosse tops Whitman-Hanson in overtime

The Abington High boys lacrosse team pushed its winning streak to five games with a thrilling overtime win over Whitman-Hanson, 9-8, on Wednesday.

Patrick Prewitt scored four goals, including the OT winner, and tacked on two assists. Jake Quinn made a clutch save in overtime and was aided on the defensive end by Aidan Powers, Trent Patterson and Connor Pease.

Hunter Grafton had three goals and three assists while Jonathan Halpin had five points (two goals, three assists).

Bishop Fenwick 13, Archbishop Williams 5: The Bishops dropped the Catholic Central League game.

Foxboro 12, Canton 8: The Bulldogs dropped the Hockomock League game.

Bishop Feehan 20, Cardinal Spellman 8: Matt O'Donnell scored four goals and had two assists in the loss.

Oliver Ames 12, Milford 11 (OT): Ben Reardon (two goals) netted an overtime winner while Shaun Teehan an Alex McAndrew had hat tricks. Noah Isleib made 12 saves.

Southeastern 16, Cape Cod Tech 1: Peyton Volz (five goals, assist), William Lannan (three goals), Thomas Hustins (two goals), Sean Pechulis (two goals) and Brendan Cooper (two goals) starred for the Hawks.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Whitman-Hanson 13, Abington 1: Caitlin Happel scored the lone goal for the Green Wave.

Bishop Fenwick 11, Archbishop Williams 7: The Bishops dropped the Catholic Central League game.

Bridgewater-Raynham 18, Mashpee 12: Senior captain Sophia Perry scored seven goals for the Trojans. Lexi White (four goals, assist), Emily Keefe (three goals) and Ashley McLaren (two goals, assist) also contributed to the offense. Audrey Lambert, Sydney O'Donnell and Emily Long all had solo tallies.

Foxboro 17, Canton 8: Devan Spinale scored four goals in the loss for the Bulldogs.

Bishop Feehan 16, Cardinal Spellman 6: Elle Murphy (four goals, assist) and Marina Duffy (two goals) scored for Spellman.

Sharon 9, Stoughton 8: Amanda Reid scored five goals in the loss.

BASEBALL

Abington 5, Diman 1: Henry Rogers earned his third win of the season as he tossed a complete game with four hits allowed. He also scored two runs. Steve Madden and Spencer Merrick both had two hits.

BC High 7, Malden Catholic 0: Sam Keene allowed one hit over five innings while striking out 10. Jackson More was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Wellesley 5, Braintree 3: The Wamps dropped the Bay State Conference game.

Bridgewater-Raynham 8, Brockton 0: Jack Ritchie earned the win for the Trojans with five innings of shutout ball while Bobby Quill (RBI), Cam Morrison (RBI), Kevin Doyle (two RBIs) and Mike O'Brian (RBI) all had two-hit days. Casey Wensley had two RBIs.

Duxbury 4, Hingham 2: The Dragons improve to 9-2.

Hanover 8, Scituate 0: Gabriel Knudsen threw a five-hit shutout with 18 strikeouts for the Hawks, who erupted for five runs in the second inning. John McDonald and Jake Pelish had run-scoring hits in the inning. Knudsen also was 2-for-2.

Plymouth North 1, Marshfield 0: D.C. Brown tossed a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks for the Blue Eagles. Brown had 23 strikeouts and two walks in his last two appearances. Matt Nardone, who had one of Plymouth North's five hits, scored on a wild pitch. Marshfield's Jack Keane pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and one walk in the loss.

North Quincy 13, Plymouth South 4: Senior shortstop Vinny O'Leary had four hits, including a pair of doubles, stole two bases, scored three times and drove in four runs for the Raiders. Kevin Pritchard got the complete-game win, striking out five, and contributed two hits and two RBIs. Charlie Baker, Max Gaudiano (RBI), Kyle DeBoer (RBI) and Charlie Ambroult each had two hits.

Whitman-Hanson 3, Silver Lake 0: Ryan Baker threw a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks for the Panthers (8-2). Brandon Craven went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. For Silver Lake, sophomore Cam Carroll got his first varsity hit with a double, and Ben Zschau pitched well in defeat.

Pembroke 20, Quincy 1: The Titans won the Patriot League game.

Weymouth 6, Framingham 2: Jack Reyes pitched well (six innings, eight strikeouts, one earned run) for the Wildcats. Colin McPherson and Andrew Daley both had two hits.

Thayer Academy 4, BB&N 3: Conor Meehan hit a two-run walk-off single to lift the Tigers. Meehan was also the winning pitcher, allowing one hit and no earned runs over three innings.

West Bridgewater 6, Westport 4: The Wildcats dropped the Mayflower Athletic Conference game.

Braintree 7, Wellesley 4: The Wamps won a Bay State Conference game.

Bridgewater-Raynham 15, Brockton 0: Lily Welch threw a five-inning no-hitter as coach Mike Carrozza won his 400th game.

Hingham 18, Duxbury 8: The Harborwomen won the Patriot League game.

Notre Dame Academy (Worcester) 12, Fontbonne 0: The Ducks dropped the non-league game.

Hanover 25, Scituate 0: Leadoff hitter Kaelyn Chase set the tone for the Hawks (5-3) with four hits, including a home run, triple and five RBIs. Kate Baldinelli also had four hits. Noey Giardina had two triples.

Marshfield 5, Plymouth North 4: Marshfield's Rowan Dillon had a walk-off sacrifice fly to plate Haylie McPhee (three hits) for the winning run. Sofia Blanco allowed seven hits while earning the win and Emily Harper drove in two runs. North's Marissa Durette hit a home run in the loss while Haylee Joudrey had a key bunt in the seventh inning and played well defensively in center field.

Oliver Ames 4, Foxboro 3: Kate Melendy pitched well for the Tigers (5-6) in the win and also added a hit and a run offensively.

Plymouth South 13, North Quincy 4: The Panthers won the Patriot League game.

Pembroke 18, Quincy 1: The Titans won the Patriot League game.

Silver Lake 10, Whitman-Hanson 1: Delaney Moquin had two hits and threw a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Lakers. Kenna Slyker belted a grand slam. Katelyn Hagerty had W-H's lone hit, plating Taryn Leonard in the loss.

Milford 16, Stoughton 11: The Black Knights lost on the road.

Norwell 19, Mashpee 2: Abby Greene went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.

Milton 15, Newton North 6: Shakura Lynch was 3-for-4 with a triple to lead the Wildcats (4-4) to a road win. Abby Hunt allowed two earned runs over 6 innings.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

West Bridgewater 95, Bristol-Plymouth 41: Ella Dunbury won the 800m and the mile while middle-schoolers Caroline Auger, Jill Bouvier, Mia Gunnison, Alexis Perez, Chloe Gauthier and Jen Lamlein swept the long jump and triple jump for the Wildcats (4-4). Lasadia Gurley won four events (100m, 100m hurdles, shot put and 4x100m relay).

Bridgewater-Raynham 122, New Bedford 12: Nethica Auguste (triple jump, 200m), Camden Strandberg (800m, high jump) and Kayla O'Hara (400m, javelin) were all double-winners for the Trojans, who finished the regular season as undefeated Southeast Conference champs.

Weymouth 82, Braintree 54: The Wildcats (1-3) won the Bay State Conference meet with event wins from Molly Noone (javelin, 87-7); Lucia Carvalho (discus, 84-0); Madi Campbell (shot put, 30-4); Leah Goodine (100m hurdles, :17.6); Ainsley Weber (100m, :13.7); Izzy Galusha (800m, 2:24.0); Gracie Richard (mile, 5:17.1); and Colleen Glavin (2-mile, 13:15.1). For Braintree, Bridget Lee won the long jump (17-0), triple jump (35-5.5) and 400m (1:02.40), Chloe McGinty won the high jump (4-10) and 200m (:27.1), and Grace Baldwin won the 400m hurdles (1:11.80).

Quincy/North Quincy 72, Plymouth South 64: Sofija Slezas won the 100m and 200m for Q/NQ, which also got wins from Maddy McGillicuddy (400m), Salma Boukhtam (800m), Aluna Coogan-Coyne (mile), Mollie Nelson (2-mile), Grace McGough (discus) and Mollie Smith-Gaeta (high jump).

Notre Dame Academy 81, Ursuline Academy 55: Chloe Doherty won the 100m (:13.41) and 200m (:27.04) for NDA (2-0). Other winners: Emma Kates (2-mile, 12:50); Josette Oberton (800m, 2:31); and Katie McCormack (long jump, 15-7).

Hingham 99, Whitman-Hanson 36: Lela Keaney (400m hurdles), McKenna McCarthy (2-mile), Sydney Pires (triple jump) and Brianna Codio (shot put) all won events for the Panthers in the loss.

Mansfield 85, Oliver Ames 53: On Wednesday, OA's Grace Okocha broke a 40-year-old school record (set in 1983 by Terrie Jones) with a :24.9 finish in the 200m. The Tigers also swept the mile (with Hannah Dupill, Madeleine Stewart and Annie Reilly) and won the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD

Bridgewater-Raynham 113, New Bedford 23: The Trojans (4-0) locked up the Southeast Conference title behind double-winners Declan Hetrick (shot put, discus), Connor Johnson (400m hurdles, 110m hurdles), Kauan Bento (200m, high jump) and Marqui Galvin (100m, long jump).

West Bridgewater 81, Bristol-Plymouth 55: Tommy Perna, Dylan Yee and Hasan Santosuosso swept the triple jump for the Wildcats (6-2) while Will DeLuca and Sean Hancock finished 1-2 in the 200m. Nate Anderson, Derek Cashman, Nate Frechette, and Derek Fredricksen combined to win the 4x400m relay.

Plymouth South 92, Quincy/North Quincy 44: Jacey Ham won the 100m and high jump for Q/NQ in the loss. Teammates Jayden Francois (hurdles), Alex Martinez (long jump) and Gabe Rodrigues (discus) also won.

Brockton 105, Durfee 25: Freshmen Jarred Mighty (400m hurdles) and Seamus Canniff (mile) were both event winners for the Boxers. Lucas Andrade won the high jump and 110m hurdles. Other winners included Ruben Bernard (shot put), Brandon Torres (100m), Matt Turco (long jump) and Josh Centeiro (200m).

Hingham 101, Whitman-Hanson 35: Ryan Gates set two personal bests in winning the 400m hurdles (:60.1) and the 400m (:53.3) for Hingham. Other winners for the Harbormen: Adam Frisoli (shot put, 38-8); Sam Reffue (100m, :11.8); Sam Benham (mile, 4:58); AJ Barrett (110m hurdles, :17.28); Brendan Burm (800m, 2:07); and Bruce Botelho (200m, :23.82).

Oliver Ames 79, Mansfield 63: On Wednesday, OA swept the javelin (with Brady Burton, Will Sobieraj and Peter Andromalos) and the 2-mile (Brendan Thomas, Aidan Dupill and Alex Pierce).

GIRLS GOLF

Duxbury 5.5, Quincy/North Quincy .5: Harper Capilli, Layla Penn, Mary Kate Higgins, Caroline Donovan and Hailey Flynn all won their matches for the Dragons.

GIRLS TENNIS

Hingham 4, Duxbury 1: Winners from Hingham included: Sanya Khadivi, Sam Ruddick, Maggie O’Keeffe/Sammy Price and Susie Anderson/Kate Radulski.

Silver Lake 4, Whitman-Hanson 1: W-H's point came from the first doubles team of Sophie Ennis/Delany Hughes.

Plymouth South 3, North Quincy 2: The Panthers swept the doubles matches with Anna Lanning/Abby Coolidge (No. 1) and Karina Dias/Anna Quinn (No. 2). Emma Colonna won at third singles.

Pembroke 5, Quincy 0: The Titans won the Patriot League match.

BOYS TENNIS

Rockland/East Bridgewater 5, Maimonides 0: Petr Quinn (first), Nick Mesheau (second) and Leo Monteiro (third) swept the singles matches while Logan Maguire/Kaden Gerstel (first) and Will Cifrino/Mo Asad (second) took the doubles matches.

Silver Lake 3, Whitman-Hanson 2: Mateo Santalucia (second singles) and Zack Lindsay/James Goyette (second doubles) won their matches for the Panthers.

Pembroke 5, Quincy 0: The Titans won the Patriot League match.

Norwell 5, Mashpee 0: The Clippers won the South Shore League match.

North Quincy 3, Plymouth South 2: The Raiders won the Patriot League match.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

BC High 3, Boston Latin Academy 0: The Eagles (8-3) won at home.

North Quincy 3, Durfee 0: The Raiders won the non-league match, 25-16, 25-17, 25-16.
