High School Football: Odessa Permian slips past Abilene Cooper; Clyde rocks Sweetwater

Cooper: Jaylen Parker 9-112 TD receiving

Highlights: Juztyce Lara ran for 168 yards and three TDs, including a 61-yarder, and Jakob Garcia threw for two more as Permian blasted Cooper in the non-district game Friday at Shotwell Stadium.

Lara ran for two TDs, including a 61-yarder, and Garcia threw an 11-yard TD pass to Carter Harris as the Panthers jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and cruised to the victory.

Austin Cummins threw a 7-yard TD pass to Jaylen Parker, after the Cougars fell down 13-0, and Christian Rico ran 4 yards for a TD early in the second quarter for the Coogs to make it a 20-14 game.

But Riley Summerford returned a Cummins’ pick 96 yards for a TD late in the second quarter to give the Panthers a 27-14 halftime lead, and Lara ran for his third TD, a 2-yarder, for a 33-14 advantage with 10:16 left in the third quarter.

Zavian Alexander returned a Garcia pick 64 yards for the Coogs’ final TD, but Garcia came back to throw a 45-yard TD pass to Gage Murphy in the fourth quarter.

Highlights: Ike Hall’s fourth TD run, a 5-yarder in the fourth quarter, lifted the No. 7 Class 4A Division I Lions over the Cadets on Friday at Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood.

Keifer Sibley’s third TD of the night, a 43-yarder, gave Connally its first lead at 28-24 in the fourth quarter, before Hall’s score.

The team’s traded TDs in the first half, before Junior Martinez’s 38-yard field goal gave Brownwood a 17-17 halftime lead.

Gus Hart also ran for TDs of 5 and 1 yard as Cisco picked up its first win of the season.

Camron Urias got a 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter as the Wolves avoided the shutout 36-0.

Cisco held Colorado City to 120 total yards, while rolling up 305 total yards, including 185 rushing.

Highlights: Connor Willyerd’s second touchdown of the night, a 6-yarder with 2:14 left in the game, proved to be the game-winner for the Badgers.

Maddox O’Malley threw TD passes of 15 and 24 yards to Kaden Blubaugh and C.J. Walcott, while Willyerd had a 10-yard TD run as the Badgers led 27-0 with 11:12 left in the third quarter.

Boyd Cox threw a 40-yard TD pass to Austin Perkins, and Jaidyn Vineyard ran for TDs of 60 and 6 yards – the latter to pull the Bulldogs within seven (27-20) with 7:09 to play in the game.

But Willyerd’s TD sealed the win before Vineyard got his third TD – another a 6-yard run with 49 seconds remaining.

Guillory had a 13-yard TD run, and Nicholas Trevino threw a 3-yard TD pass to Ryan Shaver to end the game on the 45-point mercy rule in the third quarter.
