Highlights: Juztyce Lara ran for 168 yards and three TDs, including a 61-yarder, and Jakob Garcia threw for two more as Permian blasted Cooper in the non-district game Friday at Shotwell Stadium.
Lara ran for two TDs, including a 61-yarder, and Garcia threw an 11-yard TD pass to Carter Harris as the Panthers jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and cruised to the victory.
Austin Cummins threw a 7-yard TD pass to Jaylen Parker, after the Cougars fell down 13-0, and Christian Rico ran 4 yards for a TD early in the second quarter for the Coogs to make it a 20-14 game.
But Riley Summerford returned a Cummins’ pick 96 yards for a TD late in the second quarter to give the Panthers a 27-14 halftime lead, and Lara ran for his third TD, a 2-yarder, for a 33-14 advantage with 10:16 left in the third quarter.
Zavian Alexander returned a Garcia pick 64 yards for the Coogs’ final TD, but Garcia came back to throw a 45-yard TD pass to Gage Murphy in the fourth quarter.

The team’s traded TDs in the first half, before Junior Martinez’s 38-yard field goal gave Brownwood a 17-17 halftime lead.

Boyd Cox threw a 40-yard TD pass to Austin Perkins, and Jaidyn Vineyard ran for TDs of 60 and 6 yards – the latter to pull the Bulldogs within seven (27-20) with 7:09 to play in the game.
But Willyerd’s TD sealed the win before Vineyard got his third TD – another a 6-yard run with 49 seconds remaining.
