High school conference track and field meets held at Webster, Hayti and Huron

Great Plains Lutheran, Sioux Valley and Wolsey-Wessington each swept team titles in their respective conference track and field meets on Tuesday.

Great Plains Lutheran continued title streaks in the Eastern Coteau Conference meet at Webster, winning the boys division for the 17-straight year with 174 points and the girls division for the 13th-straight year with 245.

Sioux Valley's boys (190) and girls (164.33) each won Lake Central Conference titles at Hayti. The Cossacks repeated in the girls division.

At Huron, Wolsey-Wessington again won the girls (194) and boys (150) divisions.

Here are some highlights from each of the meets, along with the Capital City Qualifier Pierre. Results of the Lake Region Conference meet at Ipswich were not posted on athletic.net. Results of all four meets can be found on www.thepublicopinion.com.

Eastern Coteau Conference

Micah Holien (100 and 400-meter dashes), Parker Walkins (110 hurdles), RJ Perry (shot put) and Lucas Johnson (high jump) each won events for GPL's boys. Sophie Kannas (100 and 200 dashes), Halle Bauer (1,600 and 3,200 runs), Katherine Prahl (110 hurdles), Kyrie Roberts (300 hurdles), Briana Cordle (shot put) and Abigail Kjenstad (high jump) won events for GPL's girls.

The Panther girls also won the 400 (Roberts, Kim Goens, Kaitlyn Rawerts and Kannas), 800 (Roberts, Keturah Schleusener, Prahl and Goens) and medley (Kannas, Schleusener, Goens and Bauer).

Other event winners in the girls division included Trinity Watson (400 dash) and Taylor Watson (800 run) of Florence-Henry, Shali Laurence of Tri-State (discus) and Sterling Mertens (long jump) and Abigail Lee (triple jump) of Britton-Hecla. The Watsons also ran on the winning 1,600 relay for Florence-Henry along with Caylin Kelly and Haley Hlavacek.

Lee ran on Britton-Hecla's winning 3,200 relay along with Jiana Davison, Emma Kraft and Ava Teveldal.

Casey Litton of Tri-State (200 dash), Daniel Person of Britton-Hecla (800 run), Grayson Madsen of Tri-State (1,600 run), Jayven Maag of Dakota Hills (3,200 run), Tucker Mertens of Britton-Hecla (300 hurdles), Brady Eschen of Waverly-South Shore (discus) and Mehki Keller of Florence-Henry (long and triple jumps) also won individual events in the boys division.

Britton-Hecla won the 1,600 (Bryce Hawkinson, Ben Suther, Mertens and Person), 3,200 (Wayatt Josse, Gage Storley, Jaxon Zuehlke and Person) and medley (Dashel Davidson, Collin Beaner, William Richter and Zuehlke) relays.

Tigh Gaikowski, Kolt Mendenhall, Jaxen Dockter and Kolby Haubris won the 400 relay for Dakota Hills and Madsen and Litton were joined by Owen Wood and Leonel Chavez on Tri-State's winning 800 relay.

Lake Central Conference

HAYTI — Landree Wilson, Isabelle Bloker, Adison Renkly and Donovan Rose each won multiple individual events to lead Sioux Valley to a sweep of the team titles.

Wilson won the 100 dash and long jump, Bloker 800 and 1,600 runs and Renkly the 100 hurdles and triple jump for Sioux Valley' girls, who also got a win from Liberty Trygstad in the 3,200. Rose swept the hurdles races for Sioux Valley's boys, who also received wins from Braden Danzeisen (triple jump) and the 3,200 relay (Brock Christopherson, Carson Wosje, Skylar Schwab and Mitchell Guthmiller).

Mackenzie Everson of Castlewood (200 and 400 dashes), Zoe Nichols of Clark-Willow Lake (300 hurdles), Gracelyn Leiseth of Hamlin (shot put and discus), Shayne Fritz of Hamlin (high jump) and MaKia Moe of Deuel (pole vault) added wins in the girls division.

Moe was joined by Josie Andersen, Alayna Carlson and Jaycee Hourigan on the winning medley for Deuel.

Clark-Willow Lake's girls won the 400 (Kelsey Hofer, Samantha Brenden, Johanna Vandersnick and Musonda Kabwe), 800 (Hofer, Brenden, Vandersnick and Kabwe), 1,600 (Vandersnick, Kamryn Nesheim, Hofer and Cadence Bochek) and 3,200 (Nesheim, Hadley Gjerde, Kayla Jordan and Bochek) relays.

Oliver Fieber of Deuel (100 dash), Zach VanMeeteren of Hamlin (200 and 400 dashes), Ricky Berndt of Deuel (800 and 3,200 runs), Damon Wilkinson of De Smet (shot put and discus), Carson Kirwan of Castlewood (high jump), Gabe Sather of Deuel (pole vault) and Lane Tvedt of Castlewood (long jump) won events in the boys division.

Deuel took the 400 and 800 relays (Fieber, Axel Gallardo, Braydon Simon and Owen Quail).

281 Conference

HURON — Athletes from Iroquois-Lake Preston, Hitchcock-Tulare and the Sunshine Bible Academy won 12 events in the meet.

Adison Moore of ILP (100 and 200 dashes), Avery Miles of Hitchcock-Tulare (400 dash and 800 run), Hadlee Holt of ILP (discus) and SBA's 1,600 relay (Abby Hinman, Betra Amare, Tessa Hinman and Dakota Boersma) won events in the girls division.

Hitchcock-Tulare's TJ Salmen (110 and 300 hurdles), Brendan Nowell (triple jump) and Erik Salmen (discus and shot put) won events in the boys division. Salmen and Nowell joined Landon Puffer and Logan LaBrie on the winning 400 relay.

Tatum Luce won the girls' high jump and pole vault for Wolsey-Wessington, which also won the 400 and 800 relays. Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and Wessington Springs took the 3,200 and medley relays.

Joey Hoverson (100 and 200 dashes) and Caleb Richmond (400 dash and 800 run) led Wolsey-Wessington in the boys division. Wessington Springs took the 1,600, 3,200 and medley relays.

Capital City Qualifier

PIERRE —Athletes from Aberdeen Central, Mobridge-Pollock, Potter County and Herreid-Selby Area won events Tuesday in the Capital City Qualifier.

Kiana Joeger won the girls' pole vault and Brayden Comstrock, Tayden Burt, William Ewalt and Kyson Fayant won the boys' 800 relay for Aberdeen Central.

Heidi Olson (1,600 and 3,200 runs), Ryli Thompson (400 dash) and Faith Heil (800 run) won events Mobridge-Pollock's girls, who also won the 800 (Sophia Overland, Jacy Netterville, Jayda Thompson and R. Thompson) and 1,600 (the Thompsons, Netterville and Heil). Shane Henderson won the boys' 800 and ran on the winning 1,600 relay (Logan Vetch, Turner Pfitzer and Simon Fried) for the Tigers.

Rayel Persoon, Jadyn Ahlemeier, Dannika Kaup and Emma Schlachter led Potter County's girls to victory in the 3,200 relay. Carter Luikens won the boys' 400 and Nicholas Schlachter the 1,600 and 3,200 runs for PC.

Herreid-Selby Area won the boys' 3,200 relay with Keegan Russel, Gavin Hirsch, Gavin Hannan and Eli Hamre.
