High school baseball: A look at recent rankings and district tournament breakdowns

The FHSAA unveiled another set of its high school baseball rankings Tuesday morning. However, this go-round, the rankings carried a little more weight as they determined district seedings for next week's tournaments.

Five area baseball programs sit in the FHSAA's top 100 with Buchholz (16-6) leading the area at No. 20 in the state and No. 4 in Class 6A. On the Bobcats' heels, however, is Lake City Columbia, which ranks No. 21 in the state and No. 3 in Class 5A.

Class 1A contenders Lafayette (No. 86 in state, No. 1 in 1A) and Union County (No. 93 in state, No. 2 in 1A) and Santa Fe (No. 98 in state, No. 13 in 4A) round out the area's top teams.
